looking for a busa.

hi everyone. i'm looking to buy my first busa ( selling my R1 so i can buy one) i'm thinking about going to look at one about 5 hours away from me, but it has 52,300 miles on it.... he wants 4k for it ( about all i have right now) how many miles will a busa motor take? its a one owner bike and has some upgrades, but with 52,300 miles $4k seams kinda high. what do you think?

Don't know your financial situation but I would wait for a better deal with lower miles. But thats just me. The motor may last for quite a while but for about 5k you can get one with less miles.

It depends if you are willing to wait, and what your budget is. For $4k there isn't a whole lot available (check out the thread a couple down from this)... So if $4k is your limit either wait until you have $5000 or else just ride it and enjoy it until you can afford newer with less miles. The plus side is, that bike has basically hit it's floor price - meaning that it won't depreciate too much more in a years time...

cash is the real problem, i'm in school full time in a doctor of physical therapy program ( no time to work) and my soon to be wife is the only one working, so its tight. i got $3200 from selling my R1 but only have 1k to spend after that, so about 4-maybe 4500 is all i can pull.

The blue book in my area is 5600.00. These bikes if maintained will exceed 100K miles without major repair. They sure hold their value. You could always offer 3500.00 and see what he says. But make sure it's in great shape. Any pics ?

Maybe it just me, but its priced to sell and wont last long. If it had multiple owners I would be worried. You can always run the vin if you want, like said above, 52k isnt that bad. We have Gen II owners with over 80k on them. Welcome to the oRg. :welcome: Oh, and I doubt you get a test ride, but offer half down and see if he will let you ride it. Make sure second gear doesnt slip and there is no knocking sounds or anything out of the ordinary. Check the chain and sprockets, fluids, etc. You can tell if it was maintained or not.

$4K is pretty good for a 1-owner bike with mods already done. If it passes a good PPI (PrePurchase Inspection), GIT R DONE.

Im looking to sell my 2001 lots of upgrades, Brand New factory starter installed. I purchased the Bike NEW in NOV 02. has just over 30k. Im looking to get 5000.00 I'll take 4800.00 firm Here is a link for Photos. I can pm you some more photos if you like. Bike is in Excellent Condition. going to look at it ( and most likely buy it) on Saturday. he went down on the price a bit, and it has had all its maintenance done and everything is up to date.

hey i see it this way offer him $3,500 pay $3,800 buy :thumbsup:a piston kit slap it in and you'll be good to go for a while

Think I'm going to ride it as is for the rest of the season, then over the winter pull the motor and do a build ( turbo.... Hmmmm...) if it looks as good in person as it does in the pics I will finally have a busa come Saturday.

This pic was taken a few months ago so it has more now. Next week I'll be adding another 2,600 to the total. All this with an odometer that ticks slower than actual.

Really sucks because I have a very limited budget, 4k is about all I can spend becaus I'm paying for my wedding in a few months. Maybe at the end of the season there will be some deals.
