LOOTING ???

I say electrify the water on the floor of the department stores. That should stop it!! Hell, They can borrow my 10K Generator to do it! That's good for 60 Amps. It only takes 1 amp to kill a Looting Piece of Cra...

I am for the most part in agreement with the mainstream (food, water and survival needs)...But if you put things in perspective the real looters will eventually be prosecuted for their misdeeds...Look at all the video that will be available...Yeah it's gonna take time but they will eventually pay for what they have done...

People have a right to food and water, a right to survive. But not to go on a stealing spree. And into private homes as well! The cops should shoot a few of them them - perhaps the rest would see that they mean business.

not to make excuses but it just goes to show you what some will do when faced with turmoil. Dont get me wrong its not right by any means.
Chew on this for a second maybe not all of the looters are common thieves, maybe some are just viewing it as a way of life. the whole fight or flight sendrome, truthfully we arnt there and have no idea why they are doing.what they do.

Like i said i dont promote there action, but i have learned not to take the NEWS for what they show...

One never knows what they will do to survive....we are not in there shoes...thanks be to God on that one....but you have to understand some have lost all and in there minds there might be some type of tramua shock and fear that made them do it.....maybe you had kids or family lost eveything and no shoes so when you went into a place you grabbed them all to help others.....whos to say...its going to get alot worse before it ever gets better......are you ready

I say... If your looting food and water its understandable. Survival is a basic and undeniable instinct. If you are trying to float a big screen tv down the river that used to be a street you should just be shot.

So what are you gonna do with a Plasma TV and no power? Where are ya gonna go with those pretty stolen shoes when the City is flooded? As a matter of fact all that shid that's getting stolen won't be worth shid when the snakes get to rollin around. I've heard that more people died from snake bites after Betsy than from the hurricane.

Right, and I have no quarrel with the ones who are getting necessities in order to survive. The reduction of New Orleans to a third world city is sad, and survival is understandable.

However, ransacking places for TVs Stereos, hundreds f pairs of shoes, jewelry, and designer clothes are not a part of survival. That line has been crossed with that sort of action.

(As of now, there's a front page story on msnbc.com about cracking down on looters... haven't read it yet tho)

as bad as it sounds if it was the only way my family was gona survive it would happen but would have to exahust all resources first

through the book at them if the are talking anything other then life saving items. Takeing tv's and other stuff like that is just wrong.

The people that are doing this are the worst type of cowards. They wait until opportunity opens the door, lacking the courage to commit these acts when the playing field is even. I agree, take what you need to sustain your family, but anything more than that is unacceptable. Shooting the cops is something that is disgraceful at any time, but I find it disgusting in a situation where the cops are trying as best they can to help people affected by this natural disaster. The true measure of human spirit is the way in which we react to difficult situations, and it seems that the individuals perpetrating these crimes are without even the smallest amount of regard or compassion for their fellow man. Accordingly, they should not be afforded the rights and privilleges protected by the constitution, they should be taken out and shot, their bodies tossed into the ocean. There is no excuse for turning a tragedy such as this into an opportunity for personal gain.
Could not have said it better myself Mr. Brown. Well said.

Worthless pieces of shid should be shot on sight.

They are of no use to society whatsoever.

well...mother nature failed to clean a bit of the scum up...as we can see.

with any luck those a-holes with get typhoid or some other painfull disease from running around in all that crap.
Even tetanus would be nice so they might get lockjaw and slowly starve to death.

If I do get sent in there next month...I will be going locked and loaded....for sure!

I think personally those who are looting tvs, guns...and materials that have no value in surviving should be arrested and once the water subsides they need to have a shovel put in there hand on the chain gang and start scraping the city streets....save the bullets for the snakes that will be coming out later...Im telling ya folks its going to be alot worse before it ever gets better...

I, too , can understand taking the basics to survive.. and those that are taking guns, tvs, shoes.. how long can they carry those things around? What are you gonna do with a big screen TV? Can't watch it, can't sell it..they'll drop it somewhere after it gets to be too big a burden...

But what gets me POed.. is that these idiot theifs are now taking away man power away from the search and rescue.. If you want to be a dumba$$ and steal, karma will take care of you... but NOW, by sending the national guard in after your dumb a$$, you are killing people that need to be RESCUED!!

It truly is a sad siutation all the way around...

I don't give a sh!t about what kind of excuses people make for this type of activity, it is not acceptable to turn a tragedy into personal gain. Ever. "We're not in their shoes" and "Fight or flight syndrome" are not viable excuses for stealing a fu@#ing TV. Now the cops are being taken away from search and rescue missions, and having to protect property, so it's concievable that lives could be lost as a direct result of these sugarbritches.....
Disgusting.

It seems with every natural disasater or man made disaster you find the true nature of people showing. On one hand you have the multitude of people that lose everything... and their inherent goodnes comes out or is even magnified. You see them struggle to help others that are worse off then them by risking thier lives to save others or set up aid stations or give money time resources to the cause. Their inherent goodness shines through the pain and loss.

Then you have the polar opposite... They see a way to capatilize on the pain, death, loss of thousands. They let their greed, acquistive nature and general lack of humanity rule thier lives. They steal, vandalize and kill when a community is at its weakest. They pull needed life saving efforts away from where they are needed most.

What saddens me besides the obvious loss of life, property, jobs, and everything else. Is how some people react during any disaster. So I try to concentrate on the hero's those that risk everything to save a few, that don't lose their true nature of kindness and respect and love of people they don't even know.

All I ever wish for when these things happen is for us as a people to learn that we are all basically they same. We all need food, love, comfort and kindness to survive. It is not a matter of Race, Religon, political view what type of dog you have, whether you have money or not. We all have basic needs and a right to survive and those that exacerbate an already horrible situation should be punished in a severe manner.

So I send a prayer to all the people that are struggling to get their lives back, who have lost loved ones, pets, homes, jobs...everything.

I live just a few miles north of Beaumont Texas, if Katrina didn't turn east it would have been me and not them. I do understand the looting for food and water, But I store weeks of food and water, just in case. Even the state gov. tells us this everytime a storm forms in the gulf. Thats why I feel most of these "looters" stayed behind for a wind fall. This is not the story of the grasshopper and the ant!
I am safely recovering in Dallas right now because I totaled my Busa the week before Katirna, I wonder how long it will now take to get my bike replaced.
