LOOTING ???

I have a very good friend and cutomer that's on a narc task force in that area.  Until further notice, they are now a looting task force.  Trust me, you don't want to caught in a jewelry store by these guys.  Here's a tip, buy stock in zipties.

Several gun stores have been looted so they are well armed. The task force guys are better armed ;) Cant wait to hear the stories.

You know, the really bad part is that we ALL pay for what they have done. Don't think for a minute that all costs associated with this disaster won't trickle right down the line, from the insurance companies to Wal-Mart. We all pay.

It is totally disgusting that looters are literally stepping over the dead(and killng) to steal TVs and such.

But I feel much more saddness for the fair and honest people that are having to deal with those scum as they break into their homes and buisnesses. AS if the hurricane wasn't enough, now these people have to deal with all this crap...

This is a link to an active N.O. police channel. I cant get it to work but I think the problem is at my end.
uhh... think for 2 seconds..

why wouldn't the computer hook up for the radio not be working? The website could be hosted anywhere... but that radio feed would be coming straight from the dispatcher area of the PD....

hehehe, not being an ass... I'm just pointing out something obvious here.

It just goes to show you what a materialistic society we have created and live in but now we don't want to deal with the consequences. Someone faced with losing every single thing they ever owned reagrdless of its $ value has to think what can I retain or gain that has value?

Oh maybe some of the things I've always wanted and could never afford, like Plasma screens, TV's clothes and jewelry. They sometimes associate the people that own these things with the money squandering execs of Enron and the such, so they figure if they could embezzle peoples life savings to buy these things why not get theirs why they can.

It may not have any value today or tomorrow while there is no electric, but if they can protect it and preserve it until someday soon, somewhere someone will place a value on it and quite frankly $100 for a plasma screen TV is better than standing in line at a food pantry for 16 hours for a bag of oatmeal.

As far as these people are considered this is the end of the world as they know it. Game over, new rules new game. Grab anything of value at any cost, PERIOD.

The fact is we actually own nothing in this world, it is all by the grace of God. So you see we only borrow it. It's only a pair of shoes, a cheap watch and a stupid TV. The retailers will collect full insurance onthem and then be selling them on Ebay as a Flood auction and double dipping anyway.

Put the Military and Police out to save lives not TV's.

VENGEANCE IS MINE SAYETH THE LORD!

shoot down those people who are there just to cause damage

I hate to say it and don't wanna get flamed, but some of the less fortunate people that don't have a lot may take a gun just for the sole purpose of protection. It isn't like they have any way to contact police or anything should a looter try to come in thier house or something. Not trying to make excuses, but some may be doing it for REAL protection. I know, for the most part, people are just taking advantage of the situation, but others may be just trying to survive.

Dudewizr: There is no way to justify the takning of things of value, what good is a new TV gonna do ya if you have no electricity or a house? You can't eat it, live in it or use it to travel. It is not part of a new game, it's disgusting thievery.
GSXRFANN: Why would someone need to steal a gun to protect the nothing they have? Take supplies required to sustain yourself by all means, but a gun? These people are opportunistic theives.

If you cared about protection you would already have a gun(s) or at least you should. We stay locked and loaded round here.

As far as people shooting at cops, national guard, etc..........fuk em, shoot em and let them fall where they may. You can't save the masses staring over your shoulder every few seconds.

personally, I think the worst thing to come of this whole thing is the long term impact this will have on the environment.
all that water in n'orleans is going to be pumped out into the Gulf. oil, fuel, all kinds of toxins, decayed carcasses, etc..... it will harm us for decades.

Well said, Joe !

If a dumb ass would rather choose to steal a T.V. or stereo rather than life supporting needs, cool, that just leaves more food and water for my family. You can bet your azz I would be looting up as much ammo and gunz to protect mine from these dumb azz's.
Like Joe said, put the Military and Police out to save lives, not material items by protecting special interest groups . In the end when its all done we the people will be paying for what they (Insurance company,Petrol Co. etc. ) have lost and didnt loose .
Come on peepz we need to stick together and avoid the negativity that divide us by agrueing over a few dumb azz's that will trying to trade what they just looted for somthing to eat or drink
sad.gif
.

Lets all stop being like the media, focusing on the negativity and try to come up with solution to help get these people back on their feet !

See thats why we have so many dumb people in this world, because we keep protecting them (adults). Let them steal the t.v. and stereo's and starve to death.  Self elimination

Oh yeah? Try telling that b.s. to some of the honest, good hearted, hard working folks that spent the last 40-50 years of their life working a small business!!! Insurance companys couldn't come close to paying for everything you own. Pull out a junk drawer at your house and come up with a dollar amount of the items in it, you'll be suprised. A very good friend of mine had his house burn down and that was an eye-opener, trust me, cost him about 12 grand just to get back to something about like what he used to have.

No excuse, no matter how hard candyass liberals try to justify it. Is it just me or is it reasonable to prepare for a category 5 hurricane when you have a week to do it?

They may have not had the need for a weapon before this. Look at the crazy shid going on. Heck, if I didn't already have one, I too may be looking. They probably aren't necessarily trying to protect what they have, as much as they are trying to protect themselves.
Like I said, I am not justifying the stealing. I am just trying to think of a reason people would be taking weapons.

Remember the LA riots after the Rodney King verdict? Same kind of senseless mob activities motivated by nothing more than greed. It has all been said before so no need to repeat other's comments.
These folks just demonstrate their ignorance and lack of morals when they go out and commit these acts. Maybe a second wave will come and wash them all out to the gulf where they can try to use their stolen TVs and Guns as flotation devices.
Also in the aftermath of the LA riots there were a lot of convictions for looting. Plenty of news cameras covered the events and got good face shots of all of the jackasses running out of stores and smiling for the national news.
Props to the Korean Guy on the roof of his LA store with an AR-15 rifle and flak vest.

It's so easy to make all these statements and acusations sitting down in an air conditioned structure, having access to at least a working phone line to connect to the internet, having something to eat and drink, wearing comfy and nice clothing, etc.

One will NEVER EVER be able to understand what these people are going through and what is going through their minds unless you have been through a similar situation, yet maybe not even close.

After being through all the storms last year here in FL, riding out storms at the Emergency Operations Center and working with Orange County's Emergency Management crews by managing citizen calls and creating work orders for everything needed; as devastating as it was it's not even close to what this people are going through.

Once again, one can't even imagine unless you've been through it...

The first big wave of troops just hit the state

Pulled from the news :

Lt. Gen. Steven Blum of the National Guard said 7,000 National Guardsmen arriving in Louisiana on Friday would be dedicated to restoring order in New Orleans. He said half of them had just returned from assignments overseas and are "highly proficient in the use of lethal force." He pledged to "put down" the violence "in a quick and efficient manner."

I hope the general ain't receiving orders from some tree hugging spineless fruit fresh off a California vine
