Made an offer on a 2003 Busa yesterday

Jeez, You guys are paranoid. I ride my Busa to work, leave if it in a parking garage for 8-10 hrs a day. I take it to the mall, shopping, movies...everywhere. Don't even bring a lock. If they want it they'll get it. Ain't no point in having her if I'm only gonna stare at her in the garage at home. Buy one, ride one like YOU stole it!!!

Sooooo....I can cancel my order for a lock/chain/pitbull/Rotti/shot gun combo?

I'm with you Raider...if I can't ride the damn thing, what's the point? My car's high theft too, but I take it every where, leave the top down...whatever gets me there!

What is amazing is that I was getting the run around from a salesman on a Busa last week. He would not come to a reasonable price so I walked... but not before taking a pic of the bike with my digital camera. I went to another dealer who did not have the color but said he could get it. I went back, he agreed to my price reluctantly after. Very pleasant experience. When I got home, I looked at the pic and noticed the Serial number on the sticker in teh windscreen... Same bike! What a moron saleman at the first place. I got the same bike afterall.

Really think about buying a full exhaust instead of the slip on's. You can get a 4 into 1 and add much more horsepower, along with dropping something like 30 pounds if you go to a carbon fiber. Yeah, you remap it- all pipe makers provide maps for the pipe they sell- but you can always try a ton of other maps on the Busa sites and remap again if you decide to change your air box, etc., etc., on down the road. It's worth the extra money,( they charge way too much for the slip ons anyway) and this way you make a much larger difference in horsepower and weight reduction, prepare your bike for future mods, and add a lot more to it's resale value. But you GOTTA get those stock cans off of there- no doubt about it.

Oh! That's sweeeeet justice!
Too funny...be sure to ride it past the original dealership, maybe stop by and show the salesman!

I love it!

I'm sure I'm a minority here 201, but I prefer the dual exhaust...I like the looks of it over the 4 to 1...

Just my opinion...

Welllll..... The shot gun might come in handy if you get lucky enough to actually catch some one in the act. Being from Texas originally, I believe that stealing one's ride should be a capital offense.

To paraphrase that old saying.... my wife maybe (a really really big maybe), my ride never!!

Michelle,
I sent you a PM but I'll post there too. James @ Jarman's Sportcycles found an '03 Silver/Grey for you. Not sure if it's his best possible price, but he told me $10,175 OTD so it's in range anyway. 434-293-4406 if you're still interested.
Ben

I would like to second what Babuski said, I have always bought used vehicles, and it felt damn good spending the money on my new Busa.. I don't spare any expense for it either. I shop around but I try to get what I want!!

Thanks for letting me know about that Ben...I am going to call Jarman's today (couldn't this weekend; hubby cut his hand pretty bad working on his car and the weekend just became a blur!)...

I'll see what it will take for them to hold it for me until the end of this month...good price; guess it won't hurt to try and bargain, but it's the best I've seen thus far...and close by! A nice two hour drive up isn't bad at all...

Thanks again! I'll keep you posted!
Michelle

Sorry to hear about your husband.  Is he OK?
Hey, if you get your '03 silver/grey here just take it home ASAP.  There are already two others in town and if the word gets out that it's the fastest color scheme then soon everyone will have one!
Seriously though,  keep me posted.  I've been doing business with these guys for more than 10 years and, while I'm certainly not their biggest customer, I do have a little pull so just let me know if you need any more help.

Ben

I appreciate it Ben...really do. I've just got to wait 'til I have the cash in hand to go wheel and deal...you'll be the first to know if I get that one...

I'm aiming for the last weekend in August to buy, if all goes well...

Hubby's ok...he should have gone to get stitches, but he's tougher than I would be I guess!

Thanks again for all the info!
Michelle

Although remapping isn't needed with bolt-ons, I am told that it WILL improve the way the bike runs. I totally trust the shop that told me this. They do all the performance work in this area, and are excellent. However, I think they charged me like $25 for remapping.

Thinker is this using the stock box , or do you have a pcII?

A little late out of the blocks here but I wanted to toss in my .10.

I have allways bought used cars. Dealer demo's, lease returns etc. The amount you save on the initial depreciation makes it worthwhile. That and will all the warranties available now, good stuff.

When it comes to bikes though. I would never buy used. Bikes are much more maintenance critical in my view. What I mean is a used car even if it has been thrashed to death may fail may come apart but more than likely you will just curse and cal a tow truck. If the bike has some hidden flaws or a history of extreme abuse a failure could actually lead to death or worse. With this in mind the couple grand I would save buying used no longer seems the bargain it once was. Besides this way I get to fix it up.

Someone mentioned modifications increasing the value of your ride. While that may be true with a completely built turbo it is not the case with pipes and stickers and other willy-Nilly stuff. They do not add value and in a lot of cases can harm your resale. So I recommend modding the crap out of your Busa but retain all of your original parts and be able to return it to stock. Especially if we are not talking about professional motor work with reciepts... With a professionally built motor/ turbo installation, you may be able to recover some of your expenses, some not all. The bikes have a well known resale value, adding your own "custom" doo-dads and expecting to recover that money probably won't happen, at least not quickly. IMHO...
