It looks like the Staypuff Marshmellow Man blew up or something. I don't doubt the authenticity of the pics. I've heard of the rare event....never seen it.
I've seen some crazy clouds while on a cruise during a mixture of hot and cold air.....no camera though.
This is an example of 'mamma' associated here with cumulonimbus. This cloud is normally found close to a thunderstorm which is formed where air rises rapidly - but what goes up must come down (effect known as downdraught) - hence this strange formation.
