I hope that the planning of riding will be better than what happened at the bash....I hope that people won't try and ride past their limits. Me being one of them. We don't have a lot of twisties in KS...so I will be in the back...
I do not believe any planning is going to stop what happened at the bash.
It is everyone's responsibility to police the group and ensure their own safety. If you see someone is who riding over their limits and putting others in danger it is your responsibility to take action. Immediately give them room so they are not putting you in danger. Everyone will have a pretty good ideal where of the route and someone waits at major turns. There is not need to ride an uncomfortable pace. At the first chance either talk to them about the situation or work with someone else to address it.
There are plenty of routes to take in the area. Some real short loops etc. Plenty of fun for everyone. Large group rides is really not my thing either. Fall 2006 I had more fun riding a Sunday loop with Busawhipped and my wife than the group ride. There is always plenty to do for all that are there.
To me the most fun is meeting and interaction with other at the lodge, the restaurants etc. Don't get me wrong, the riding is fantastic. I just have to be so much more on my guard riding with groups and try to resist the temptation to ride at extreme levels.
