1st Annual Hayabusa.org Meet-n-Greet!

Hey Bug, I agree with you; don't worry, just ride. Several of my buddies and I will be riding in the Deal's Gap area during the Honda Hoot next year which will probably again be in late June. Maybe we will run into each other; hopefully not physically though, I have ran a little wide around a corner or two on the Dragon while doing my best to keep up with the 600 rockets on my former GL1800. This will be my first time in that area on a Busa. Maybe I won't have to work it as hard; I had the pegs and a couple of other parts scraped up pretty bad on the Wing with its limited clearance. The guys around here that ride the GSXR-1000's talk about the Busa being overweight, but relative to what I was used to it is a featherweight. Can't wait to wear the tires on the Dragon and all the other great roads in the area...

I hopeing to Hit Deals Gap next year and possible colorado if i can fit it into my schedule but i always wana earn a few Iron Butt awards already have my routs figured out to do the 1500 bun burner gold 1500 miles in 24 hours

that and i'm hopeing to do the boarder to Boarder run in 24 or 36 hours thats the Canadian to Mexican border that one i have some route planning for though Would also love to accomplish the great lakes 100 which is around all the great lakes in under 100 hours you get the gold award for doing it in 50

Hey MidnightBusainSD, I envy you. You must be in better shape than I am. One of my son's middle school teachers rides a 1200 Bandit. He tried to get me to go ahead and purchase a 2004 Busa so I could ride with him this summer from Arkansas to Alaska and back. He made the trip and my son came in from school the other day telling about the pictures he showed to the class. I am considered flying my plane to Alaska and doing a little big game hunting, but dread the long ride. I can't imagine that long of a ride on a motorcycle.

So there are several big events that occur on the west coast and on the east coast at different times. For example there's the Laguna thing on the west coast in July and the NationalRoundup on the east coast in August. Just food for thought! Maybe we should have our h.org gathering coincide with a big event?

Not very many votes, hope you all do better at the poles today!!!!

One thing to remember (not to sway the vote, however) if it is Arkansas I will get about 30 "Hooters" girls to attend. And, remember, this is a college town. For those not paying attention... college town = very hot Hooter girls....just trying to get through school....
cool.gif
Okay, you stick-in-the-mud eastern people better just suck it up because  it's going to be Colorado...

AND, on your way over, we need 30 of you to leave the hump home so you can bring those 30 Hooters girls along.

Make sure you ride through a little rain and slightly chilly weather just before you get where you're going and there just may be an extra twenty in it for you...

Here is my official submission for ideas of next years get-together.

My first idea is Colorado.  The roads and scenery are GREAT.  Tons of different routes to ride and sights to see.  Find a hotel on the edge of Denver or maybe Colorado Springs and that way, you're only a short drive away from being in the mountains, plus you have some choices for various types of night-time activites if any members choose to go out after putting on 300 or so miles of riding earlier in the day.

I was looking at next years calendar and saw that the 4th of July is on a Monday.  This would be a good oportunity for a 3 day weekend for a lot of people.  Maybe have a Friday evening greeting party for all those that can show up at the chosen hotel the night before.  Saturday morning, have maybe a few different routes planned out so riders can choose what they want to see and where they want to go.  Maybe some good twisties in the canyons or some longer rides up through some of the higher passes.  Sunday, I'm guessing would be the biggest turnout with some guys not being able to do the whole weekend, so maybe have one big group ride that dah to some really cood destination, and then maybe a BBQ back at the hotel that evening.  Monday, again, have a few different rides for people to choose from.

I know in the past that the football stadium in Denver usually puts on a really good fireworks show that draws a good good croud.  That might be a nice way to end a 3 day weekend of riding.

Please consider this idea in the list of submissions.

You were in Business mode? I thought you were in little brother mode, or better yet, John Kerry mode. You would argue with every point.

Ah, quite the polar opposite. Your short span of attention is getting the better of you, my friend. Kerry covered all bases by agreeing with all sides at any given time - the master of the qualifier...

Who'll be your role model, now that your role model's gone...

(Paul Simon came to mind; strange that)

Oh, he he he....

Colorado is about the only thing that makes sense for a National Roundup, not based strictly on Geography, or "I'll be too far from Pa" mindset.  But from a real honest appraisal of what the Area offers in terms of REAL riding, REAL weather, REal Scenery and other activities...

Enough babble about "this 11 mile stretch of go no where, over policed, over hyped road."  Enough, "this 20 mile stretch through here is Purty."   BS...

Open your minds a little bit folks and try to think just a LITTLE BIT BIGGER...  And maybe, just for a moment think about the over all experiance...  Not some short stretch of nowhere Highway... Or Fuggin "Crooked Road"... Christ, you think Colorado is going to be Conveniant for Florida Folks? New York Folks?  NO?  Then STFU and try to think a little bit bigger than your own backyards...  It'll be worth the drive/ride...

If everyone wants to stay a little closer to Denver, Idaho Springs would be a great place. Mountain setting, lots of smaller, cheaper motels to stay at. Indian Springs, a natural mineral hot spring that flows out of the side of the mountain into small rock pools, also has a camp ground. A neat main street with plenty of bars and good resturants.... and Central City (casinos) is right over the top of the hill, about 10 miles. This would be a good point to start daily rides from, go any direction, would not matter, it's all beautiful. Also only twenty or so miles from Denver (Rockies game?). Another must do is the Coors Brewery tour, really cool! I grew up in Golden, can direct the gruop to any kind of fun you all want to have.

Will there be a supply of tires available at the Meet- and -greet.
Because even leaving Vt with fresh meat I will require a new rear to make it home.
That is my one and only concern.

Last trip had to have one replaced while we were on the road! Not a problem...
But, it wasn't cheap either..

That's cool with me ... I can stop in Colorado on my way to the Laguna meet the following weekend !!

When the location and date are decided, I would like to have one drop shipped somewhere close, so I could do a change out reasonably.
