1st Annual Hayabusa.org Meet-n-Greet!

This gathering is definately gonna require two locations to involve the majority of members. By spring I'll be living in Phoenix, AZ so the Colorado thing is cool for my situation. But if I would still be here in Ohio I would probably be hoping for something a little more Eastern.

A lotta plans need to be made so the sooner a location or locations can be determined....the sooner people can start getting there heads straight on what arrangements need to be made based on their personal situation.

True True...

If you're looking into Colorado. Here is a link with a list of good roads and different routes in the Rockies. I have personally rode a few of these roads, since for the last two summers I have made a trip out to Colorado for the sole purpose of enjoying the roads. It's always a great time up in the mountains. I of course was planning on going again next year, so some kind of gathering would be great.

I say we just pick a spot and get planning it.

I have been a part of organizing several large events for the avalanche fan club and let me tell ya....its going to take every bit of time between now and april to get this organized, planned and for folks to get the necessary time away from work/school and budget in the funds to make the event.

Whoever is going to be planning this one, if you need some help I'll do what I can. Like I said, I've been in on the organizing of many large (50+ trucks/100+ people) events.

Also, in the avalanche club we have a guy who does marketing for a living.....and man o man is he good
biggrin.gif
Each event we have some type of raffle of stuff he gets from various companies. Usually some little stuff like headlights, shirts, small gift certs but always a few items in the $200+ range. Maybe someone here that is going can take this type of role? If not I am sure my buddy would do it for us if we know how many folks are going to show up. Usually we just haveta send them some pics for their marketing pooh.

Not very many votes, hope you all do better at the poles today!!!!

One thing to remember (not to sway the vote, however) if it is Arkansas I will get about 30 "Hooters" girls to attend. And, remember, this is a college town. For those not paying attention... college town = very hot Hooter girls....just trying to get through school....

Ok folks in order to start planning the event correctly I have to set a closure date for the polls at which time the information gathered will be used to compile the FINAL VOTE.
1. Only two locations will move to the final. (in the event of a tie a vote off will be performed involving the two locations that tied.
2. There will be no second chances, So Please Only Vote if you plan on attending the event...
3. Polls Close as noted below.
4. If the membership wants two seperate meets (voter approved) the top two spots will automatically be selected and a date selection process will begin.
5. If I've forgotten anything bring it up now.

The polls will close November 13th, 2004
(at noon central time)..

Hey Zukracer are we going to still meet up at Deals Gap next spring or will this deal take its place? I gota hit the Gap either way.

I know I am a bubble burster, but I have to be realistic. First of all, there were already 3 "official" .org meets. Unforutnately, they all were on the West coast, and the last 2 were at Laguna Seca. I also think that there were some East Coast get togehers. But with all that said, it is a great idea to try to get together, but we have to face the facts.

--not very many people are going to travel clear across the country for this. OK Jim does, but there would only be a few. It doesn't matter how many months we have to plan, we just aren't gonna get a lot of people to do that.

--There would either have to be an East and West coast get together or a central one, and a central one will be hit and miss.

--Unless the meets correspond with other big events like Myrtle Beach, or Moto GP at Laguna, turnout will be dissapointing. It is just too hard to add another major trip to many people's agenda, but a lot of us will be going to the big events anyway.

So that is just my .02. If all goes well for me, I will be going to both Myrtle and Laguna.

Damn greg,

a little harsh dont you think? Bad thing is, I agree. Not many people will be willing to do al the travel that me and Jim have done just to meet up with a couple of lug heads like you and Lo just to go riddin.

But like I said before, Im down for what ever. Col. would be my first choice just because I have been there before and I love it, Ark, I have family and been there more times than I can count.

Either way I wont miss it, even if i have to tell the wife its a biz trip.

Josh

Yea Greg, your right there have been several meets over the years but none had the Captain that I can remember. So, I guess this is more of the first founding father Meet-N-Greet!
smile.gif

I also understand the turnout concerns and worry myself the numbers may be low.
But, I still say TEN busa's and the Captain is better Than One in the Garage at home....
I can't wait to finally meet some of the folks off this board.

IF more of you OG's hung around and got involved this kinda silly shid wouldn't get outta hand...

I agree fug it, I am going to the west Coast meet anyway, at least then I get to enjoy some real roads and not the fuggin bugs, heat and humidity.

If we could actually get folks involved in the AMA Races at PPIR (Colorado Springs) or Suzuki Cyclefest at Coppermountain that would be cool... Would be a National Event that Coincides...

Ah well...

oh yeah, we are still going in the spring .... maybe april/may regardless of any national meet. I dont have a ton of vacation time so the national one would have to work out that I could get there and back in a about a day's drive one way and then ride over the weekend. deals gap is going to happen for sure in the spring though
smile.gif

Well if we wanted to make it event oriented and the place is Colorado then the Cycle Fest that is held in August i think would be a great choice

Glad to hear that zuk. I cant wait to get back to Deals Gap.
Revlis whats the deal with you west coast guys? Ive never had a bug knock me off yet and heat and humidity only matter when your sitting still. Theres no air in them mountains the bike doesnt run well and neither do I.
I will be there no matter where its at. Hooken up with those east coast guys and riding to Colorado sounds good to me. Nothing looks better that a bunch of Busas rolling down the highway.
I have been to that area of Arkansas and the roads are nice. Would be great on a bike.

There are about 10 of us that ride together, 3 Busas and assorted other bikes like Honda 919, Suzuki Bandit, GSXR-1000, 1800 Goldwings, etc. I met with the Busa guys today to tell them about this meet and give them the web address to check out this site. A couple of other bike riders were present and wanted to come also to see all the Busas. My question is, would the members of this board welcome, tolerate, accept other riders with bikes other than Busas? My buddies are always up for a road trip!

I confess that I didn't read all the pages here, but are you saying that Doug has agreed to come to this? If so, you are right. It would be worth it. I know that he has tried to make it out west for a couple of years, but couldn't due to various situations. A lot more people might come if Doug was there, but I really don't see him making it to two events. But who am I to speak for the Cap?

I don't mean to be a spoil sport, I just know how much push and hustle I did to get people to come to Laguna year before last. I even went to the other sites. I thought that we could break the record for the most Busas ever photographed together. The turnout was good, but not what it could have been. Those of you taking this on have a big job in front of you. I commend you, and I hope it works out.

Okay, you stick-in-the-mud eastern people better just suck it up because it's going to be Colorado...

AND, on your way over, we need 30 of you to leave the hump home so you can bring those 30 Hooters girls along.

Make sure you ride through a little rain and slightly chilly weather just before you get where you're going and there just may be an extra twenty in it for you...
