Mesh screen fairing mod...

Pictures really dont due my bike justice..but it really grows on you..when i first seen it i thought it was one of the ugliest bikes i seen..but the more i looked at it the more i liked it..i just got it the way i like it,but dont have any recent pics..thanks guys for all the info..

I forget the name of the material our fairings are made of , but make sure the epoxy is made for it or you could damage your fairings. Got mine at walmart.

There's some hand forming to these screens to make them look right. The ones I bought from Postal years ago sort of bulged out of the fairing opening a little looked real good compared to flat.

That looks really nice with the white on the bike...i went to rural king and got some gutter screen 12 dollars for 4 pieces..

I also bought some gloss high heat engine paint..thats the kind i use on everthing..and plastic epoxy..all i need is to cut them out and paint but its raining here so the painting is out for today...o i was at oreillys today and seen they have nite shade.. But its a different brand than i used before..it works great on a clean prep surface..it blacks out turn signals tail lights ect.. Cheaper than buying smoke or dark lenses..more u spray on the darker the lens gets..

Stay away from the hot glue! Trust me on this one lol. It gets a little too warm in there for hot glue. I picked up some gutter guard from Rona (I think that is a canadian only chain?) but they had it in both natural aluminum and in black. I got the black stuff and it looks great!

+1 on staying AWAY from hot glue. I've read where some use it JUST to tack the screen in place (two SMALL DROPS/DOTS per screen) then come back through with high temp RTV sealant all around the screen covering the glue dots.

TMpwdrCoat >> Love those black screens on white. That looks SWEEEET!!

To late now im hot glued up

Not good..

I'm afraid your thread will entail this in the near future; more than likely after your first ride out...
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Do a search on "HOT GLUE" ; then read subject lines which are to include "fairing screens".

Sorry brother; Your engine WILL, without a question of a doubt, melt the glue and you will have a very unpleasant experience in hot glue removal.

When you put the screen on, do you push it so it "curves" out or is it flat with the inside of the fairing?

A bumper shop might chrome them..u might want to get the material u want to use and put it behind the fairing to see if u like it the way it is .. I was going to paint mine black but i really liked it natural..

The gutter screen i got was really hard to work with..kinda hard to get the screen to stay in place..so i kinda tacked it with hot clue just to hold it so i could use silicone to fasten it..i used very little hot clue,so if it melts it will not hurt anything, but i used a lot of silicone (high temp) ...i tried to use epoxy but its hard to get everthing in place and wait for it to setup without running everwhere or the screen moving..i couldnt get the epoxy to work for me..but i did use it on the smaller screen on the fairing because its so close to the exhaust
