MotoGP 2018

Crazy race today!!!

Here is my take on MM.

1.) He outclassed anyone else on the track today, not by a margin but by a whole lot. The talent he showed today clearly indicates why he has won the world championships four times.

2.) He is a youngster with the personality of a top jet fighter pilot. That is just the way his brain works, it is winning at all costs, no matter the consequences. That is the reason he is so successful. I can understand why Rossi is upset, but I really don't believe Marc purposefully meant for any of the other riders to crash. He panicked at the beginning of the race and was desperate to try and get back to the front. He was totally reckless, but I don't think that was intentionally meant to harm anyone, it was just following his instincts, the way he is wired, the way a fighter pilot acts when he is in trouble.

3.) Again, I can understand why Rossi is upset, but perhaps a better way would have been to enter into a man to man discussion with Marc when he came over to apologize, rather than just chase him away and blasting comments into the press. In this instance I expected a bit more from Rossi. He is the old master, the one with the most experience, the one who has seen it all and done it all. If he was truly concerned about the status of MotoGP due to Marc's behavior I believe the best thing he could have done was to confront Marc man to man after the race to try and set things straight, when Marc came over to apologize. In short, an attempt from Rossi to change Marc's behavior would have added a lot more value than talking to the press behind Marc's back.

4.) Rossi remains my favorite, but I hope he gets over this. I hope Marc gets some coaching to realize that what he did today is not OK and between him and Rossi they repair the relationship. I hope Marc grows up and becomes a little more responsible, but that may cost him a race or two.

Well, wow. So, here goes:
Congrats to Cal on the win and for being the first British rider leading the championship in YEARS! I don't particularly like Cal, but he rode his race strategically and when he turned it on...
For me, the rider of the day was Alex Rins. What a performance to get him his first podium! Oh and Syahrin? I will be shocked if he doesn't get offered a contract after his performance so far! Sucks about Folger, but wow is Syahrin ever capitalizing on his opportunity.

As for the start -
Jack has to feel like he got screwed... the headstart wasn't enough. In my opinion, they should have started the race and had everyone come in to swap bikes... that is why they have the flag to flag, isn't it? Of course I was not there, so... easy to second guess.

Zarco rode well, but he cut in on Dani early on and I am a little surprised that he wasn't penalized.

As for Marquez, well - good on him for getting his bike started, but, it looked like he was told to go to Pit Lane, then riding his bike backwards on the grid - I don't think he would have been penalized for pushing his bike, but since he was riding... When he got the ride through, I wasn't surprised. Everyone had to know that he would push to score points, especially with Dovi in the Championship lead and within the top 10 in the race. When he contacted Aleix, he hit him and drove him to stand up - pushing him wide... because of where it was, Aleix and Marc both had room to straighten up and still had track. When Marc got the Drop Position call he had just passed Morbidelli, but in my opinion, he should have dropped one before that. Good on Marc for having a look around and slowing up as he wasn't sure.

When Marc cut under Nakagami stood him up, I was surprised that he didn't get a penalty then. At that point, in my opinion, he should have been Black Flagged. What we saw was Marquez riding circa Moto2, which was clearly win or crash.

Marc was flying on the track - he was bucking a bit, similar to Jack's qualifying lap - expect that Jack was pretty much alone on track, not wading through riders. With Marquez's speed he would have easily overtaken Rossi - he made a clearly risky move with a forseeable outcome.

So, in my opinion, a 30 sec penalty, not enough. He should have been DQ'd.

I didn't see the contact between Petrucci and Aleix, but Aleix said that Petrux hit him harder than Marc did. I never saw JLo after the start. Lots of coverage of the lead group of four and it was a fantastic race for them.

As for Marquez knowing he was way too fast and loose, he had to wave to at least two different riders for chopping under them. Yes he went to apologize, but, in my opinion, it was too soon. They had just finished the race and Marquez still finished ahead of Vale with the penalty. Marc maybe should have given him more time. When Vale went to apologize to Casey, he took a lot of criticism for going to see him with his helmet on, Casey shook his hand and made the remark about his ambition outriding his talent... but Casey had time to cool down prior to Rossi going to see him.

As for the presentation, something struck me. The only rider that I saw at the presentation congratulating the top finishers was Syahrin. Now I am not sure if he was there to cheer for his teammate, or it was because he was excited to be in the premier class. Regardless, it struck me that I have never seen other riders at the presentations.

Cal's comment about the media not being at the press conference were dead on. That sucks and I would love to see him release a list of names that he will give no statements, interviews or receive questions from, for the rest of the season.

As for Rossi's comments after the race, no, I don't think that Marc has destroyed the sport. I think that Marc has lost some respect from the riders because of his ride or die mentality... which they hadn't seen large scale since he was moto2 (remember that the penalty point system was actually created as a means of controlling him). Yesterday was old Marc - immature, lightning fast and win or crash.

In truth, he didn't do anything that Rossi hadn't done to Biaggi, Gibernau, Stoner, Lorenzo...

Lots of mistakes in that race to be sure... but nothing that can't be learned and recovered from. Just my opinion.

I FORGOT TO RECORD THE RACE !!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH .... I am such a dumbass , I missed out on some crazy race action BIGTIME !!! Excuse my under reaction ...... but I am very pissed with my toad self !!!
:mad::redface::crazy::poke::rolleyes:

Nobody will even remember who won the race (Cal was dead on about lack of respect) because of all the drama before, during and afterwards almost all revolving around Marquez. He WAS waaay faster than everybody else, which meant he didn't have to do what he did MULTIPLE times. I think he shoulda got a DQ too, but since Honda pretty much owns MotoGP he's likely to get less than a slap on the wrist. It was too soon to try and go apologize to Rossi, and he may have just re-ignited the bad feelings - yet I do think it was NOT intentional, but what Rossi did to him two years ago WAS. Someone needs to talk to Zarco before he gets his ass handed to him off the track. Even though I think Miller got screwed, I don't think a repeat of Scashenring from a few years ago (multiplied by even more riders all trying to come out of pit out at the same time) would have been a good idea because carnage would have ensued. OH THE DRAMA!

Lastly, Lorenzo realllly needs to keep his mouth shut about being undermined by Dovi - Dovi has 10 million reasons (the difference from what he's paid vs. Jorge) why he feels he should be compensated better.. I can't WAIT to see Dear George this week! :)

MM choked and stalled his bike on the line. His mistake, rules are same for everyone. I actually will plead guilty to being a MM hater. I think he is talented but if other riders rode like crazy fools they would be as fast as MM, and there would be a lot of MotoGP riders in wheelchairs. I don't get the win at all costs thing, I screwed up and stalled the bike so now I'm going to end someone's career trying to catchup. Nope, on that sort of approach to the sport I'm absolutely a hater.
Old age and treachery usually beats youth and enthusiasm... right arch? But when its Youth and pushing limits... there is a problem? lol.. and its Friggin RACING... they are Supposed to be pushing limits.. no? ure crazy man.... motorcycle racing is a DANGEROUS profession and you may die.... just like boxing.... but everyone gets shocked and appalled when some foul play seeps in.... get over it.

Do you even know who Marco Simoncelli is? Sometimes youth and inexperience reduces you to only using a hammer and thinking everything is a nail. When you slow down and start appreciating turning you can comment on MotoGP.
