motorcycle cops

I've been pulled over a couple times on my bike over the past few years and I always get the slow down and be careful speech.
Ok whatever....

Lately I've noticed a lot of motorcycle cops in my area and you would think they would be a model for safe riding. Here's what they wear around here....

Tiny paper-thin lid of a helmet (why bother)
Sunglasses -no visor or even goggles
no gloves at all
short sleeve shirt
polyester pants

Great protection up to .5 mph!

same out fit here for the state boys. not to safe, i wonder if they would chase at warp speed in a t shirt??

I have often thought the same thing not much protection you would think they would set an example by being a bit more gear conscious cant find out much about that post on the recent bike cop crashes in hawaii but one of em died wonder if he had the proper gear hhmmmmm

Of course they would Ranman ! They wouldn't let you damage their ego !

Hunter / Prey kicks in and they'll run you nude. They need to improve - boots, armored pants, armored jacket, gloves, and flip up full face minimum.

They dress up pretty hefty here in Idaho, I didn't see them out today ha ha. It was frozen slick and 16 degrees. But they wear pretty good gear hear. I would love to go do their training tho!!

CHP and our local motor officers here dress pretty well....open face, but quality lids, boots, etc.

ours here where the same paper thin lid, and no gear....i think they all should look like goose in Mad Max..

I think that they rely on their superior training to prevent injury. We all know that they get a really wide berth as they ride down the highway.
I do wonder about the same sort of issues as the rest of you in regards to gear though.

They dress the same as they do down in Florida here. what an example they are setting HUH!!!! Most of them do not even know how to ride. They only qualify in a parking lot going around some obsticles. Lots of cities are going to bikes because of the lower costs to operate.
