The sue people to get their money to pay for the things they do. I could be mistaken but I believe the church is made up of some 18 attorneys and their children and grandchildren....

The church is made up ONLY of his family... the attorneys and family are one and the same... he had his sons and daughters get law degrees for this specific reason...

You obviously don't know about them... they have been denounced over and over and over. Reporters, companies, law enforcement, judges, normal citizens have all spoken out against them. They don't have supporters they sue for their money. In the story that was linked it mentioned that father of the marine that sued them. Not only did the father lose the case against them but this family (the church is made up of only family members) counter sued the father and won a 5 million case against him...

I have met these people on mor ethen one occasion through the guard on funerals. It is free speech they can do what they want. They will sue you for violating their freedoms which is how they get there money.

Funniest thing to me is they slander the ones that give them their freedom of speech and then use the same freedom to win money out of courts.
They just dont sue the family though, they sue the county police for not securing an area for them to protest at, they sue anyone that says anything directly to them or physically does anything to them. They never lose from what I hear.

I have lookd and looked....all I could find was a couple of rulings and court cases that awarded the WBC any money, one for $43k, one for $16k, and one for $200k.

please post some links to the court cases that WBC have won that have given them money.

Shirley Phelps, Fred Phelps daughter....boastfully told reporters the WBC is funded by the family law firm, and by family members that work at other non-WBC law firms.

this means they would be totally vulnerable to a financial boycott.

Dont know what boycott would do to these people. They live by meak conditions at best. I have seem them in person, how they travel, how they sleep and live. They will cram 6 people in a 80's station wagon and drive through the night to do a protest and then drive back, sleeping in roadside motels as they see fit but usually drive through the night. They dress in hand me downs. They are not well funded nor is the lawfirm.

This one is hard for me to look at... The patriot guard stayed at this graveside for I believe it was a week. The wife of the veteran that was killed in Afghanistan would not allow the rest of the family to put a headstone on his grave... The Patriot Guard stood watch over that grave until a headstone was put in place. Someone was there at attention 24 x 7 for a week.... Dad was tired and worn out, you have never seen more tenacity than from my father....

didn't say they lived extravagant lifestyles....but traveling and protesting costs money. you cannot change them, but like the Germans after WWI...you can take away thier ability to hurt people.

I hear ya afterhours, I was just simply stating what I said because I have ridden witht he patriot guard for about 4 years now. Not as much as Id like to but I try. Some of the questions posted here have been asked for as long as this situation has been going on. How can we stop these people..answer is we cant. There has been several states that try to make laws to push them away from the church but public roads are public roads. The Ideal thing is to have a church that is far from the road but not all have that option. Plus the idea that someone is outside protesting is demoralizing in itself.

At the events I have been to only a handful were there to anti protest against these people. They cannot make it to all of them so a lot of the times it is just an excorting mission for the guard which is cool and still makes you feel good. The ones I have been to that protest against westboro....well we face the other direction(usually the church) meaning we have our backsides to them and we are quiet until they start in on their banters. We say basically the opposite that they do and since we are many, their blowhorns sound like whispers.

Someone else on here stated they would feel out of place on a sport bike and being young, no you wouldnt, there are plenty of young riders on sport bikes that attend these things. I do.

A mod I want to look into is how to hold an american flag off the back of my Busa lol. I want to wave those big flags off the back like the guys with dressers do. Anyone up for making this mod.

i hear you, and I am not trying to make this into a fight. I know that people are doing what they can, especially the Patriot Guard. There are some groups out there that could make it easier for us to help, like churches and some private business...

The problem is the panty waisted citizen. All of us, or you that have not got the balls to take action against this stuff. When the average person finds that they will not let everything go to a "court" for deciding right and wrong, this stuff will be cleaned up. Spot on', I can tell you this there is things worth dying for and going to prison for, if they boycotted or did there preaching on how god had killed my kid, they would be gone.
