This is the one it is has some scratches on it from heel and a few more in other places if the hugger im trying to get works for me we can work something out..

Is it necessary to install a hugger with the new undertail?

no it is not necassary just keeps dirt and rocks from messing up the paint on the undertail..

i am going to try to clean and wax the best the can..
