My 05 Has Problems

i seem to remember reading some things about Sky motorsports a while back. it was not positve. You Fl. Guys know anything??

Man o man what an entrance Mooses Busa--- Like J.C. said Valve cover gasket--- Glad it's fixed and please hang around. Ride safe and enjoy your new Bike.

... My advise...report that thing stolen, light it on fire, and ghostride it through the front window of the dealership. Then when the insurance company gives you money to buy a new bike....buy a busa at a different dealership!!!
Thanks for the laugh. Revenge is always sweet even if just a revenge fantasy

Welcome to the board. Sorry about the misunderstanding. On the work order it does say under parts cylinder head gasket, but if you read further they say cylinder head cover gasket. One is the head gasket the other is the valve cover gasket. And then they state what was done to repair the problem, replace valve cover gaskets. Stick around awhile I think you will like it here.

dayum... that's what I call an entrance.... misunderstandings happen and with a post like your 1st one it's hard to tell if you were for real or just trollen.... let me start over...

Welcome to the board bro

I hope you guys didn't scare him off. I think he lives in the same town I do, at least he bought his bike at the same place.

That is where I bought mine and I've had no problem with them at all. I also know many people that I've known for years that have dealt with them for years and have nothing but good reports. As far as I know, there are two Skys, one here in Lakeland and one in Lake Wales. The Lake Wales store does a lot of internet sales. I don't have any first had experience with that store, other than that I bought a jacket there.

I also live in lakeland. I went to sky powersports. I got a bad vibe from them( plus they never had busa's instock). they could order one. I went to Orlando and bought mine, took it home that day. Red & Black "05"

I will post current pics of the scoot as soon as I put the Yoshi's back on. I noticed that between 1500 and 2000 rpm in first gear the bike sputters and surges. It is also sputtering slightly at constant rpm's on the highway ( 85 to 90 mph). After reading around a bit about electrical shorts  I am Praying the Brain hasn't suffered injury.  I put the stock cans on to see if it was a mapping / increased flow problem or a Brain Control problem. The problem did lessen, but around 1700 to 1950 the surge is still there and a slight sputter is still present. I am also going to insist on a replacement battery ( also a board member recommendation ). We'll find out how well the dealership is going to stand up to the plate tomorrow. BTW, I talked with a different parts guy who knew where to get a sevice manual for an '05 and said it was only $71.00! currently looking for a less expensive source other than a CD from eBay.. Any suggestions? For those Central Fl members, I live in South Lakeland. I hope to meet up with you guys after all this BS with the bike is resolved. On a POSITIVE NOTE... I cut the rear mud flap off, put on the SS axle mounted License plate holder and installed the Clear Alternatives Integrated LED taillight. She's coming right along... just 80 miles to go before the 600 mile break-in period ( or would that be better stated BREAKIN' Period ) is over! Then I can find out first hand why these bikes have such a reputation! I am anxiously awaiting my first "give it hell" ride!!

THANKS for the link! Very much apreciated. Glad i have a cable modem!!! that file was HUGE.

OK, you seem to be legit so like everyone else here, I apologize if we flamed you.

Here's something I recommend: There are a lot of genuine 'Busa enthusiasts on this board who have extensive knowledge of the bike. Before I posted anything on this board I spent time searching/researching their posts so that I could gain an understanding of any known common problems or "features", and not have to ask "newbie" questions that the gurus have already addressed. I recommend you do the same as this board covers every aspect of your machine.

You'll find that the typical 'Busa is pretty reliable (based on the concensus from this board), which is why it sucks that yours seems to be "broken". I had some initial issues with mine that were also due to poor assembly/configuration by the shop I bought it from. Although we have the right to expect things to be put together correctly, it's still worth knowing enough about the mechanical aspects to be able to spot obvious blunders, and that's where this board can help.

Please don't cancel your membership just because of the initial knee-jerk reactions of some of us who've had to put up with stupid postings/bait from "Hardley" owners etc. in the past.

Stick around, you'll learn all kinds of useful stuff...

Mines in the shop now, gettin everything metal from the battery tray back replaced because some rocket scientist popped the wrong acid pack in the battery and it has been leaking for 1500 miles. SWEEEET!

NEWS FLASH

Today a tragic event took place...A Blue and gray Hayabusa was ghost ridden into SKy motor sports. police are looking for clues to find this bandit before he can strike again!!!

lol i had tooo

welcome

according to the paper work under "Resolutions" it says "found valve cover gasket leaking", yet under the parts it says cyl. head gasket. which is it. Johhnycheese stated it was probably a valve cover gasket, which is what they said also. I am confused on this one, can someone clarify or am I a seeing something wrong here.

That confused me for a while too. I am guessing it was teh valve cover gasket. I imagine it takes more than 1.2 hours labor to R&R a True Head Gasket. I havwe switched dealerships and am pretty dang happy with the scoot. It still jumps around at low rpm at low speeds and has a miss at steady rpm's but was told it was the nature of the beast and would be remedied when the PCIIIr was installed. in the meantime I'm out riding when i can and having a blast! Well gotta go...riding to the dragstrip tonight for some fun now that i have crested 1000 miles!
