My baby is dead

One year and two days of having her I let a friend take her for a spin, and well he layed her down to an estimat of $16,000 in damages. Now I know to do it myself wouldnt be that much, but with still making payments it is just not worth keeping her. So now come next year I have to start over. Should have stuck to not letting anyone else ride her.

had the same prob with my brother in law , but not as much damages as yours. and since then i never let NO ONE  ride my baby unless they drop $15000 cash in front of me. sorry to hear about ur loss hopefully a few board members can help u out with the repairs

Yup. You just reinforced my long-time policy of not letting people ride it. If it's family, I lie and tell 'em the insurance won't cover them.

Thanks guys, I'm going to wait a little while before getting another. Maybe see what comes out for 2007.

i know what you mean, i have a hard time saying no to friends who really insist on taking the bike for a quick spin.

some guys think, just becuase they have ridden a bike before (even if it is a 100cc cruiser or some other 20 HP bike) they can still ride this bike.. I use to have a ninja250 that i would let em try out, but gotta be careful with this beast.

there is a link on pay it forward in random thoughts.. maybe someone has some lightly used stuff?

good luck

The borrow bike rule:
Noone borrows the bike unless they have something that is worth riding around in or on! This belongs to the bike owner until the bike is fixed to satisfaction!

There is a "pay it forward" in the random thoughts section. Lots of $tock part$ being donated !!!

you should be carefull with topic titles.... you scared me...
I bet you don`t have a children, do ya?...
Sorry about the bike, you can get a new one, 2007 model...:)

my standard answer is:

"I would man.. but i get a break on my insurance premium if I sign a waiver saying they don't have to pay for it if I loan the bike to someone else... basically if anybody but me bines it.. they don't have to pay a dime. I can let you test drive to buy with a $8,000 deposit though."

Should have stuck to not letting anyone else ride her.
It's called "Bike Etiquette."

It's from that Top Gun line. How does it go?..."That was the best flying (through the air) yet'.. 'Right up to the point you threw it away.' 'You never ever leave your (bike for others to ride) wingman." You get my point.
I rather lose a friend (yeah right) than let 16 Grand grind to a stop. That is why no matter how much they beg, I SAY NO.
That is why when even I drool at the mouth wanting to ride something new or hot, I NEVER ASK. If it is offered, I will ride it, respect it, and return it in the same condition.
Bottom line, remember your Bike Etiquette. Never Offer, Never Ask, and always... ALWAYS say NO!

My heart sunk reading your loss. It just reinforces this mantra.
