Ok, I didn't get the kind of ride I was hoping for today and lots of traffic keeping me from lettin' it eat in the best sections, but I scuffed 'em in pretty good considering...

The right side is all but gone. The left side just didn't get as much fun. Let me get another pretty day and a good, traffic free ride and I think the Powers will be chicken strip free. The 10 leans and flicks much quicker and easier with the Powers. I've gotta get used to the quicker turn-in though. Found myself almost clipping the apex on a few corners because it was turning quicker than I was used to. When I get used to the Powers' turn-in, watch out!

Me? Sick? Nah, the people who DON'T ride motorcycles are the sick ones. We're all sane here. It's sort of like a t-shirt I saw in one of the sport bike magazines a while back. It went something like this... "Those who dance are considered to be insane by those who can't hear the music."

It's funny... I remember a time not that long ago when I had to go to a parking lot and TRY to remove the chicken strips from Train's Powers. Now, just one street ride at approximately 60-70% of my normal pace these days on some decent (at best) roads and they're almost gone on the 10. I don't think that says anything about the two bikes, but I think it does say something about me and my riding. I think I've really made some progress with my skill level since getting the 10. I know my confidence level has soared...

Thats exactly what I do now, is go scuff my tires in a parking lot. I figure its a lot better to slip going 30 mph than 60 mph. The powers didn't slip at all when I did this, btw.
And as far as one strip being wider than the other, I have the same problem. Its funny, I used to have NO strips on the left side, and just about 1/8-1/4 inch on the right. I just never was a comfortable going to the right as I was the left.
Then I lowsided on the left side. Now, EXACT opposite. I have no strips on the right and a bit on the left. It's all mental for me...

BT Dude, I'd say you are getting the hang of it! Good job! As your confidence grows, it won't take long and you'll have those puppies chewed up all the way out to the bitter edge.

A little trick I do on my new tires is to take coarse sand paper to them before I mount them. It roughs them up a little and takes that glaze off. I've never know anyone else that does that but it just makes me feel better. I hate crashing. I've been there and it ruins your whole day!

Well, if you remember the pics of my busa tires the right side strip was the wider one. The stock 10 tires had pretty much equal strips. I've come a long way toward eliminating having a "good" side and a "bad" side. It has taken the entire time I've been riding to do it, but I'm finally to the point that I'm equally as comfortable going in either direction. The strips on the Powers today just happened that way. I guess the traffic must have jammed me up on more good left handers than right handers.

Heck man, part of the fun of gettin' new tires is the process of gently and gradually scrubbin' them in through the twisties. Slows me down just enough, and just long enough to get a feel for the different handling of the new skins. Even if you go with the same tires twice, new ones ride different than old, worn out ones. I think I'll keep on scrubbin' them beyotches in on the road and save the sandpaper for my paint work.

I think you're right though. I don't think it will be long before these tires are scrubbed wall to wall just from normal ridin'. Well, normal for folks like us anyway.

They'll get scrubber in real well when the weather warms up. If not, then Deals will do it for ya!
