My new long range build

Ammo sales are still loose at the moment here(until July 1st,when a background check will be required for every purchase). We have the Crossroads Of The West gun shows several times a year and you can purchase unlimited amounts(anywhere)without so much as even showing a drivers license ,steady streams of people hauling out thousands of rounds on dollies. When inquiring about the Colt situation I was informed that if they so much as even changed grips on a model it would be subjected to all kinds of the new testing requirements so Colt just said screw you,we'll sell our handguns elsewhere.Would've liked to pick up a new Gold Cup like I had back in the late '70's,available everywhere except for good old California.

Later guys, off to work right now to freeze my rocks off in 57F degree water(air temp. is 35F).

Cali passed a law with a whole bunch or crazy hoops to jump through to sell a gun but they grandfathered in all the old models so lots of gun manufacturers are just selling the old models. The cost to build a special gun to comply with the new regulations just is worth it, it's a losing proposition. This was the goal of the law and don't let anyone tell you different.

This article outlines some of the craziness.

Good grief. Who comes up with these laws? I read that article, and as much as I don't like the NRA it was spot on. Good read, and it exposes the futility and lack of understanding those in charge have.

Yeah we aren't going to follow California's state legislature on that largely in part because the gun manufacturers will not modify their manufacturing process for only one state to require microstamping. Sorry for you California folks.

If they ever make micro-stamping work, imagine this scenario:

Bad guy shoots good guy and kills him using a 9mm handgun with micro-stamping technology. Bad guy doesn't want to get caught so he has 50 shell casings he has collected from a range and scatters them about the scene. How much time are the cops going to waste tracking down all those false leads?

Damn,I wasn't even aware of this microstamping nonsense, thought it just had to do with some drop test, loaded chamber indicator crap.

Only their pistol rounds but they were no better or worse than anything else I have run through my 9mm.

I can pick up 500 rounds for $365 shipped but didnt want to waste the money if it isnt any good. At this point, I'm only dialing in my capabilities so I guess anything really is good enough for the time being. Once I hit competitions, I'll only use ELD Hornady match.

If nothing else it will give you a bunch of brass for reloading. The only thing I might worry about is how dirty it might make the gun. I don't remember if it burned clean or not in my pistol. It would be a different powder anyway.

I am definitely saving all of my brass to one day start hand loads. I'm not new to guns but new to precision shooting.

@piratediverjefff

Ever shot Sellier and Bellot? I've heard decent things about them but wasnt sure.

Never heard of it(until now)but Googled it and reviews sound pretty good.Probably great for practice until you switch over to the ELD's.I'm almost reluctant to shoot the Bergers(will wait 'til I go through everything else),just pd. $290 for 100 rnds.(20-200 gr.,60-215 gr.,and 20-230 gr.)

I dread the days when I build my 1500+ yard rifle. It will be the .338 Ruger Precision.

Factory 338 Lapua gets pretty expensive, but could probably hand load for less than $2 per round.

Might as well go on up to the .375 Cheytac bro, here's a dandy all ready to go for a measly $14K.:super:

I'll try to get some video next time. You can look up the Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor on YouTube and it will give you a good idea.
Will do, but it ain't the same! Like watching bike videos, it's better with context.
Have had mine over 6 weeks now and yet to still get to a range, raining several days every damned week(last couple of years you couldn't buy a damned bucket of water, now we can't get rid of it:laugh:).
It's SoCal Jeff, it'll dry up soon!
