My Very Slow Build

I would not paint the engine. No reason to add insulation, keeping heat in. Let that aluminum radiate as much heat as possible. If you do make over 700 hp you will be rebuilding the engine every 5 passes anyway and it would be a real hassle keeping the paint nice.
Hi Dennis. I will have to talk to my guys a AI Coatings in Houston Tx. They make a coating that helps dissipate heat I will have to see what colors it comes in and if it will help me keep it cooler.

Hi Dennis. I will have to call my friends ay AI Coatings in Houston Tx They make a coating that dissipates heat. I will have to see what color it comes in and if it will work on my motor. They make some wild stuff there. There was a vid where they drop a heave ball on a glass and it broke, then they coated with 2 mills and dropped the ball again and the ball bounced off. They do coatings for aerospace, national defense, industrial and automotive. That is where I get all my coatings done. They came to see me at Windmill Cycles To see the bike, because they wanted to help me.

Hi. At this point in time I DO NOT have carbon fiber wheels. DME told me that they have broken them, so I went with DY MAG magnesium wheels. They are purple I also have Beringer brakes in purple too. They have purple Ti bolts. But I would paint them!
Oh that's right, we talked about carbon fiber wheels.

The only other color that I'd think about using on the purple anodized parts would be gold. There's no guesswork with purple bolts. They look great on your avatar. I have painted a lot of bolt heads. VHT Flame-proof is the best gold you can find. For purple you could use VHT Anodized. I have used the blue and it's very transparent. Of course, you'll be touching up any painted bolts so an opaque color would be a lot easier to maintain.

Seems like paint could hold heat in but if it's ceramic, maybe it would radiate better than no paint. You could at least go with yellow coolant pipes.

Hi I have purple coolant pipes.

Hi. I received some stuff from DME 336-785-4845 I got there rear sets and there 2 tear breather system, but I will still need a catch can because I will be running VP M1 fuel. I just looked at the records of ordering parts I have paiyed over $1,750.00 in shipping for 155 orders.

Hi. Back to painting the motor. I talker to Tracey D Marquart at AI Coatings in Huston Tx. He told me to call Cerakote in White City Or The are part of NCI Industries. The paint will be transfer gray it is a charcoal grey. It is a submicron heat dissipating paint. I will use it on the head, block,, cases, radiator and intercooler. It is for aerospact things.

I had my headers coated in a similar product here. The company does exhaust, blocks and such for race cars and top fuellers for the same reason. Not cheap but the reduction in radiated heat is amazing.

I realize trade offs have to be considered but paint isn’t light and neither is ceramic. What would the total amount of paint and other coatings on the overall bike weigh?

I'll bet repainting fairings would add a couple pounds. After I painted my sprocket it actually weighed a couple ounces more. Same with engine covers. I imagine if all original paint is removed, it would be closer to an even trade.

One of the reasons I have shifted from having carbon fiber wheels myself. Breaking, cracking. Core moto wheels are pretty good I'd say. Another thing is I'm not sure what the R&D on such wheels are to handle such immense power.

@michael parris heuberger , on the wheels, are the Dymags you plan to buy actually magnesium? All I see on Orient Express in Dymags are CF and aluminum.

I recently saw some pics of magnesium wheels on a scale and it appeared that they weigh very close to the same as BSTs. It wasn't clear if the mags had bearings in them or not but they looked very light. I can't imagine magnesium would be lighter than CF. I have seen pics of a road racing bike that sheered all the spokes off a rear wheel made of magnesium so I'm not sure that is the safest either. This was an old pic, the bike was probably 180 hp at best.

HI. I have the DY Mags and yes they are magnesium. I have had many sets of magnesium wheel 3 sets on my F 5000 Lola and on my ZX 11. The front wheel on the ZX11 cracked when I was in Daytona. When it cracked I was going 80 MPH in an S curve on I 4. I did not crash as I had a 120/60/17 on it. That is why I think I did not go down. Very little side wall so no flopping on the side wall.

Do you have any weight info to offer on your magnesium Dymags?

Who did you buy them from? ...incase I go with magnesium instead of BSTs.
Hi. I bought them used. The front is a little over 1/2 lbs heavier than the rear is a little over 14 oz than the HD race CF wheels.
