Good evening fellow Busa enthusiasts.
As my username implies, I'm a mature Busa owner. Over the years I've owned quite a few superbikes, starting in the mid 70's with a Kawasaki Z1-900 to a couple of more of those and a KZ-1000. In the early 80's I picked up a like new Yamaha XS-1100 special that I still have. I also have a Harley Road King that has helped me get over the need for speed so much.
But I remember back in the late 90's hearing about the new Hayabusa and seeing how cheap they were, I wanted one but my desire for self preservation took over and I resisted the urge to buy one.
Fast forward over 20 years and I feel like I can finally control my need for speed enough to stay out of trouble on one. So after some searching I ended up buying a very low mileage 2004 blue and silver Busa. As far as I know it's pretty much bone stock with a little over 6,000 miles on it.
The guy that sold it to me told me that it will start but won't stay running. I have it home now and have played around with is just enough to know that when I first hit the starter it will fire on all cylinders but probably only for a couple of cycles and then it dies. Previous owner cleaned the tank, changed out the fuel pump, put new injectors in it (twice), new plugs (3 times), and it had a power commander which he took off. He also replaced the ECM module?
I've heard that it may have some kind of tip over kill switch or kick stand switch that may disable it.
It will be spring before I'll be able to do much riding as I live in the great white north but if anyone has any ideas of what I should be looking for, I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
