Just bought an 06 with 4731 miles on the clock, 4 of which I put on in the test ride. That being said I am doing some much needed maintenance. It had the original tires on it which were deadly ass dangerous. I am changing all of the fluids. It has a fork seal that is leaking. I ordered some new mirrors because the little chrome things it has on it are worthless. It was lowered an Inch front and rear which I am going to put back to stock even though it does look pretty damn good as is. Anyway just wanted to say Hi and and warn everyone that there will be questions.

Nice bike don't forget to check your brake lines! They do expire! Also recommend new rad cap, thermostat and coolant flush, check rad hoses for rotting and fill with engine ice!

Welcome! 06 was a good year. Mine is nearing 70,000 miles with no problems other than fork seals. Amsoil is good stuff! Can you tell what the original color was?

Not sure about the original color, the guy told me and I can't remember. I just picked my forks up from the shop and from having seals put in. That being said it was lowered front and rear and I intend to put it back to stock height. Do you know off hand did the top of the fork tube sit flush with the top of the top clamp?

Haven’t had the T clamp off in awhile but this is what it looks like now. Forks

are in the stock position.

Judging from how far that adjuster is sticking through the bar mount plate I am thinking there must be a fair amount of the top of the fork tube sticking above the top triple clamp. If you get down and look between the bar mount and the top triple clamp can you see how much of the fork tube is sticking above?

Not sure if it's the same for 1st and 2nd gen but what I was reading the other day says 5mm above top clamp. I was always curious of I could drop the front down a little more and found out it is possible because mine seems to be set a lot lower in the clamp then my buddies. His adjusters come up to the top clamp where mine are recessed.
