Newbie... heh

OMG
Don't people learn? I think they post here to get us going with their attitudes n stuff.
Kid if your going to ride take a course, you will need it. Too many situations arise where if you don't have the skills you won't save the bike!!

Tell me something,.
If you approach an intersection and guy descides at the last second to go left in front of you what do you do there?
Just a basic question. This is something that WILL happen alot.
Hey, my .02

Is the answer Crash like the rest of us?

Just kidding! But we knew this was coming and we have to be patient with these guys. By virtue of asking the question, the guy has at least shown a willingness and interest to learn. If we come down hard, he might ignore us and buy it anyway. if we try to explain and reason with these kids, we just might save a life.

Finish high school first!

Just kidding, but seriously, get a smaller bike first, after taking the riding course. And get a good job. You'll need it for the insurance. Enjoy!!

Really like I said befor go shopping go try out some other bikes. You may find out that you like the other bikes better. All kinds of bikes for all kind of things.

I've been around bikes on & off my whole life & I can honestly say that the MSF course was pretty good. I took the course before getting my Busa & it did help out with the basics(& that can make the all the difference in the world). Just so you know, I'm a Paramedic/Firefighter & I see plenty of accidents involving motorcycles. I can say first hand, that most of these accidents are due to the riders error. Thank God Florida is making it manditory to take the MSF in order to get your motorcycle endorsment on your liscense.

Hi,
I'm a newbie too and my goal is a Busa. I have been riding small bikes on & off for 10+ years. Recently, I bought a Katana 750 as my first big bike. So far I am riding it comfortably on freeways & hilly roads. I am very very careful though and dont ever try to pull a stunt.
I'll be taking the MSF course this week. And more riding classes within the next year.

My question is:
Do you guys think there is a relation to the weight & size of the bike with the riders physical dimensions?
I'm 5'8" & 165lbs. Do you guys think I will be able to ride a busa eventually with more experience & training or is it just NOT recommended for me. I plan to ride it in the next year & a half or so.
thanks,
Ayon

Welcome to the board GoalBusa. Your hight won't be a problem at all. I'm 5'8" also but a little more in the weight department. The Busa is very well balanced so you won't feel the weight that much. You should have no problems.

Also, I am still thinking whether I should one more step before hopping on to a busa. One more step means a faster 600 gixxer or CBR or something next year... or just practice on my Katana and take more track training courses and go for the leap.
choice 1) Katana -> practice -> Busa
choice 2) Katana -> practice -> Gixxer/R6/CBR -> practice -> Busa

I'll probably not be taking the next step for another year or more. I have to save up. I'm 27, BTW, so I dont have raging uncontrollable hormones telling me to pull insane stunts. I usually take it easy and dont take any risks. I usually ride with my wife and would like to go for longer rides. I live in Calif. SF bay area. Its very beautiful here almost the whole year round.

Thank you all in advance.

practice??

who is practicing, I thought we were supposed to be out riding and enjoying our bikes,, whatever bike we happened to be on.

I never looked at riding any of my other/smaller bikes as practice for riding the 'busa... haha I was just riding ya know.

Just enjoy whatever you are riding the learning will come naturally.

By practice I meant riding on different kinds of roads, long rides, fast freeways, twisties etc. And also a few courses at the track.

I'm 27 too.......I bought a Katana 600 last March for my 27th B day and had it five months........I was so sick of it I had to get my next bike.......which is picture below........you CAN make that jump, you just have to respect and learn the bike. Don't do anything silly right away. The bike will only do what you make it do.

I'm New Here, But I used to be an MSF Instructor. One thing I learned is that you NEVER stop learning. Every time I taught the course, whether Beginner or Advanced, I learned something new, and I was the teacher. What ever your choice, Respect it, regardless of size.

Hey riders! I'm new to the board, been doing some research on my next bike, which WILL be the Hayabusa. I've been riding since 1984, started on a 250 Honda, then a GN400 Suzuki, GS550, GS750, Honda Nighthawk S (my only brand new bike to date!) then to a Shadow 1100 (Boring ass cruiser) then to an 86 900 ninja, to my current bike, a 1984 900 ninja that I brought back from the dead. I've been following this thread, and I gotta say, that if I hadn't started out on a smaller bike, I wouldn't be sitting here posting today! Kid, go and get a small bike and LEARN HOW TO RIDE! Go and get the skills you need to eventually be able to enjoy a bike like the Hayabusa. I've ridden for almost 20 years, and I still don't know everything that I could about riding! Hopefully, I will be able to buy a BUSA this year, and I'm more looking forward to its advanced suspension and chasis more than its sheer power. After riding 19 year old technology for the last five years, that's what I'm looking forward to the most. This purchase will be the culmination of years of riding, and learning respect for what's under me.

Nazgul... Cool username!

Now you need an Avatar that matches that!!!

Oh yeah, before anyone else says so... Buy a shirt (or two, black is cool and so is white).

Yeah, I know, but I can never seem to get an avatar! The Nazgul comes from the way my bike looks....all old and evil in satin black!

Thanks for the love folks....I'm soooo obsessed right now! Thinking of selling my Ford F150 to get the Busa! It feels like drug addiction! Anyone else experience this feeling before your purchase?
