Night Riding

Do you ride after dark?

I ride in the dark 80% of the time (between 4-6am). My very first time on the bike was in the dark. Never bothered me. The reason why I ride in the dark most of the time is because I just don't have that much time to ride during the day. Also, I spend most of my time after work with my family so the only time I have is like I've said, between 4 and 6 am. I've only been riding for 3 years and one month total and I now have about 80,500+ miles under my belt. I'd say 60,000+ miles of those were done in the dark. 47,000+ miles of those were done on my R1.

I could enjoy riding at night if there were not so many deer in this area. There is always something in the local paper about someone hitting one.

Don't like to out in the country with all the deer and dogs. Had a couple of close calls in the truck but nothing on the bike yet( thank God).

I like riding at night, especially on the none streetlighted roads with the HIDs in full blast, but I usually don't take it as fast as I would normally due to fear of the little critters that like to cross the roads.

My dark commuting is coinciding with the deer rut here in central Pa. due to the timechange. Every year this time I start to see shadows in the woods here on the ride home (gore on the road peaks my imagination). I am most on edge when I am blinded by oncomming high beams, try to back her down to 'bout 60 & switch to the Strom, not just for the weather protection, but I think it could handle a deer better, plus I would'nt cry so much about the plastic. (don't mention that to the Strom she ain't so happy about mistress Busa to begin with. I scared a Bull Elk so bad with the Strom one morning it paniced and fell flat down in the middle of the road and spun a doughnut. Not close I just moved in too close to the animal to get up close & see it, did not anticipate the result. Busa gets too many bugs in the dark around here in the summer....

Any time after mid-Sept., the deer here line the sides of the road like fans at a road race, even in the day time. And of course, always on the best twisties we have, which are few. So any night riding is in town and that gets boring quick...

WAY too many deer etc. out around here. I almost hit a 300+# hog on Sunday night in my car that was crossing the road. Someone had clipped him & he was dragging his back end along across the road. I turned around to warn people & humanely put him down & he had crossed & was gone.

Dang, that could leave a mark if struck. Low and dense

Living in a big city and working always days during the week, best riding time is the night time. On the open highway on my days off like riding during the days and enjoying the beautifull scenery.

same as allot of others, I used to shy away from it untill I put an HID on her, now, I really can't tell you the difference between night and day aside from it's kinda dark behind me :)

i do the majority of my riding at night but it is about to get a lot nicer after christmas, my baby got me HIDs, throttlemeister, windscreen, lowering kit, Pazzo levers, tobin seats. next year

On the way to work, I rarely ride in the dark otherwise. I turn on my illuminated frame sliders on the way to work, for extra visibility.

Use to do a lot more of it intentionally when I was still living inside a big city. But since I have moved back to the land of deer and cow country I really don't care to.
