btw, what is purge, i know how it looks and what it does but what is the point?

Hot sunny day, bottle in hump, pressure at 1100psi. Your not in a area or position to where foggin' the box to release pressure is an option. (i.e.. traffic jam, train light or parked for a quick bite to eat) Burst valve on bottle breaks in another 100 or so psi. How do you release the excessive pressure before your tail becomes frosty the humpman?

Purging is the most convienent of all the options one would take in situations such as these; not to mention it often turns away perspective challangers at a push of a button.
