I was about to ask about Joe’s bike… no updates
He replied that to me this morning. I feel bad for him honestly because no matter what I’d always be questioning if my poop was going to blow up. Or if he tightened every bolt. Knowing myself I would probably tear down anything he touched except the engine and put it all back together myself. Then I’d just send it.

He KNEW Joes bike would be allll over youtube and at the 1/2 mile events... I think he gave Joes bike alllllllll the attention. Even still.... even with alllll his attention on the bike... is that enough?

I was able to get in the garage tonight and work on the bike. Hope to have the motor out by the weekend and maybe broken down by next week. Would like to bang this out well it’s fresh in my head. Lots of hoses and wires spaghetti. Here’s photos I took for you guys. Oil is nasty and oil is 200 miles on it? I did have to add a quart of oil when I got the bike and added about another quart before it blew up. Bike ate a lot of oil that’s for sure. So motor was probably not in good health when I got it back from Rob. You can see where Rob welded up the charge pipe he didn’t smooth anything out and left these little nuggets inside the charge pipes. Maybe the motor ate some of them. I don’t know how likely it is for them to broke loose or rattle and broke. But for someone that says their the best and has someone’s bike for 3 years. I didn’t extrovert see this. Also some good size chunks in the oil. Something I didn’t want to see. Hopefully Friday the motor will be out. Just need to drain the coolant and pull a couple more wires and unbolt it.

If this was me I'm not sure i would be able to keep myself as calm as you have thtu all this. I would definitely have a camera setup for when I took the engine apart just as added insurance against anyone saying I did something or swapped parts on the off chance I found something that caused me to have to take the builder to court. That's just my way of thinking and probaly too much but if nothing else it could make for an interesting youtube video.

I thought about doing that. But I’m sure someone will come up with a million excuses. I have had 3 of his customers contact me saying they had similar problems with him.

When we 1st started building the bike and I was told it would be done quickly. 400whp sounded like it would be more then enough. But after waiting 3 years I was starting to feel like 400 whp wasn’t going to be enough anymore. If this bike was really making 450 whp then I need 600whp to get to my goal. My fastests 100-150 was 2.5 seconds. That’s not fast enough for the nth vipers and the some of the gtr and ugr lambo we have around here.

Wow, judging by the pics that thing at the lower end as well. I bet you have crank damage bearing damage etc. If it consumed that much oil as you stated, that thing was damaged before he ever delivered it to you. I have no doubt he blew it up on the dyno basically and just said screw it. I very highly suggest my builder in St Louis. He is the bomb dot com for sure.

how much power did urs make? post up the sheet man... thats the best part of having a good builder.. the damn printout!

Don't ever ever ever pay up front for a builder.
If they are reputable they'll understand, maybe I'm way off.
I would never front the full cost of a build. Way too easy for a builder to pull this BS.
So sorry to the OP. Can't wait to see everything come back together

I apologize i do not have the sheet, it wasnt that important to me honestly. I am at 300 hp on pump fuel. I do not want to hijack this thread. If you search on my profile you can see my build.

300HP on pump gas isnt setup very safe on pump gas though... its universally accepted that above 260 or 270HP that an intercooler/ meth injection or race fuel is REQUIRED. Its important that good and correct information is out there. This isnt nitpicking... this is universally accepted.

Hope you didn’t buy the custom kit from Rob. Might take you 3 years to get it……. Part me thinks Rob took advantage of me cause I was so patient with him. But taking advantage of that is going to come cost. None of the delay time with my bike had anything to do with covid. It was all Rob and his work ethic. Once you pay someone up front they have no motivation to get your poop done asap. They got paid they don’t care. The place I have dealt with for my other bike they don’t make you pay for anything up front. You pay when the bike is done. And they have gotten my stuff done in a timely manner and when something didn’t work they were fast to help fix it and at no cost to me.
The time you let him loose on this build and the 16K you lost to giving Boosted , by rights you should now be 1/2 owner of his damn business ! Reckon you could say to him you want that boosted name GONE , and changed to a more honest one , like "Busakiller ....motors " .

busakiller says his datalogs show the air fuel/lambda values at up to mid 12s-1.... who the hell sets up a TURBO streetbike that way? thats way lean.... thats unprofessional to setup a paying customers bike like that. THATS why i harp on the dyno sheets.... a dyno sheet would have showed weather conditions during the run/ temps/ correction factor used/ AIR/ FUEL and lambda values targeted.... ALOT of info in that dyno sheet if ya know what your looking for., ITS NOT just about Hp level.... there is other info to be obtained. A simple dyno sheet can also protect a business owners interests as long as he acts in good faith and does the right thing and doesnt try to play games on the dyno... Its proof. right there in black and white.

Well more surprises today. Sadly motor won’t be coming out this weekend. I need make something to loosen the engine mounts. The turbo kit Rob built has the turbo rubbing on the engine case. And he had to install 2 exhaust gaskets to push the turbo out so it would clear. I did notice one intake valve has oil deposits on it and the other ones are clean. Here’s some pics. 4 out of the 8 turbo manifold bolts were loose. Bike did have a exhaust leak which could explain some of the problems I was having. I’m seriously considering parting the bike out and just going na with it.

I get that high performance stuff can be hard for a shop to want to warranty and to decide who's at fault when things go wrong but there should be no question that at the very least all your labor should be getting refunded and that's the minimum he should do to try and correct it but should do a whole lot more. The fact that it had double gaskets in the head is enough for me to know what was already said and that is that he hacked this thing together with zero care.
