NumbNuts - valve train rattle

NumbNuts:

Sounds like you have the same valve train rattle as me. Had mine diagnosed by my mechanic as cam chain tensioner, even though it went away as the engine warmed up. They are going to replace @ no charge even though the bike is out of warranty (1 1/2 month). Mine came on real quick and is getting worse, don't take any chances. This will be the third replacement, bike was ridden hard by previous owner, imagine my surprise!!

Good Luck.

do yourselfs a favor and take it in and have it documented If they replace it great if not it is a peice of paperwork that will not be ignored.

I think I just found two of my problems.
The ticking noise from the front axle... I took the pads out, metal spring cover was loose on RHS, copperslipped them and reinstalled. all fine now.

Running wise, I fixed that too!!

I'm not sure what it does without looking in the manual, but on inside left of bike, next to TPS, clipped onto a bracket which is bolted to the frame, is a sensor with vacuum pipes and wires going to it. This was dangling around not attached to anything!
(cleaned out air filter too and re routed a vacuum line that looked as though it was getting pinched)

All fixed now.

marvellous.

Thanks Snag

I tuned my TB's up a while back (1 to 2, 3 to 4, then 1&2 to 3&4) and I got them virtually spot on, No 4 screw had backed way out.

Had them done as part of service and tech reckoned nos 1 and 2 were out

well, rattle is there at cold, and now during warm up she is hunting all over the place, even at 2k rpm. When warm though she is better than before.

I have it in writing that i went in complaining of a noise from top right of engine, they said nothing found and no action needed 'at this time'.

I am either going to get this new spring Bigabusas mate is patenting at the moment, or go manual, but there is problem of expansion when head warms up.

Oh I dont know. This is a big headache. Bike is only form of transport at the moment. If it goes pop I'm stuffed.

Dealers and techs over here don't seem to realise. They treat it like its all a bit of a game. Not for me it bloody aint. I shelled out loads of money for my dream bike, only to get shafted right from the start.

I shell out loads of money for insurance, tyres, servicing costs and they dont even do a proper job. Changing tyre they scratch my rim (twice now) and put copper slip all over back brake. I watch them hammering in rear axle. It's so easy just to line it all up and gently slide it in, even on your own.
Servicing I get kinked fuel lines due to incorrectly routed pipes, things not tightened, missing heatshields, no filter change, but charged for the extra oil, things not done that I ask for, the list goes on.

it all f*****g stinks.
I am not happy.

From now on I do all my own servicing.
F*** the 'dealer stamp'.
At least I have more chance of my bike not breaking down through neglect.

NN, That is good you have it in writing hopefully with milage(km)
Well At least I have taken it seriously and I do pass on most of this stuff to Suzuki
I do not know what I can do in the UK but I can try here to pass it along

Thanks for your help. I realise from your previous posts that this puts all dealers in a bad light, and I know that you are definetly not one of them.

I've tried Suzuki GB as soon as this all started happening (end of Feburary)
They have promised to have someone call me numerous times

All I've received so far is the promotional magazine for the Suzuki Owners Club!

Next bike will not be a suzuki. (hopefully if I look after mine properly I won't need another!)

Shame really, I like the bike, just not the company's UK representatives.
(had one last week try to shaft me for extra 17.5% on the Suzuki retail price. Lucky I had price list in front of me at the time)

Most dealer Mech/Techs try their hardest to get most bikes fixed properly, but if you have a boss that tells you to get the new Jet Ski or motorcycle ready and tested so that the new owner can take it home and out of the shop it's kind of hard to do a good job on a bike you are servicing since it will stop you from what you are doing or completing.I believe most Techs will do as much as they are thought from classes they take or from pass experience.Make sure you check to see if the Mech/Tech has a certificate from the various motorcycle schools in your area or have gone through the Suzuki training. Good Luck
