He's making same mistake Dubya made by saying 'combat mission over' .
Not true. 50,000 troops will stay behind as 'advisors' but we all know they will face combat daily .
And I don't believe all 50,000 will be gone next year.
I agree 100%, but I'll wait and see. Like you said, it's all about that 50,000 number that we always seem to leave behind. Why they can't just flat out admit that's how we do business, I wish I knew. I'm just glad to see we're moving on from there.
Our enemies since they now know we are supposed to leave will just lay low and wait .
Soon as we go if we ever do they will throw a terrorist party and go crazy .
They are already there . We are the ones who don't live there.
Will be simple to wait us out.
I can only assume that the terrorists have already celebrated some sort of victory in their minds, given some of the drastic changes in our society since in the onset of the war (from our economy to the loss of some of our most basic personal freedoms) which ultimately was exactly what they were aiming for if you interpret what they said their intentions were and how they view what we hold sacred. They were never going to be able to take us out head to head, nor allow themselves to be in a position for us to do so to them, so I can easily see a celebration already having occurred in their minds.
If that's the case, we'd be stuck there for several more, unnecessary years. It's pretty apparent that the basis of their strategy is to try and "wait us out" and they will never show up for a true fight. If our mere presence is enough to persuade them to do otherwise...well, I think I've found my answer to the above quote. I just think it's time for the US to get out of the "chasing down terror" business.
I wonder what flavor of crack he was smokin' while on vacation....purely playing to politics and the upcoming election don't think there is much truth in it. If it works out that way, great (as long as Iraq doesn't implode shortly afterwards) but I doubt it...
