Oil Capacity

So I am sure somewhere along the way this has been discussed or covered but why are there 3 different fill capacities for the engine. When replacing the oil with the filter, The owner's manual states the engine takes 3.3 L of oil when changing, the repair manual says 3.5 L and the engine covers says 3.1L.

So which is it??

On a side note does everyone here always get 3 L of oil back out? I always consistently get 2-2.5 L out of the engine when changing the oil. Of course all engines burn oil normally and the higher the RPMS the engine see's the more oil consumed. Just trying to see what everyone else gets. And I change the oil every 3,000 km.

It's a little different on US models, but I would go 3.1 and then check it, slowly filling it until I liked where it was in the sight glass. If changing the filter, crank it and let it run a little before topping it off so the system and filter are oiled.
