intresting how the top 3 of 5 were automotive oil...and the comparison between the top auto and top moto had a huge drop off in retention...thats messed up.  guess u dont always get what u pay for.
hmmm but the question still remains does it make a diffrence in the long run on synthetic or reg. they didnt really get into that on the study....and it was 10 yrs ago, so im wondering if that makes a diffrence as well

ok....just did a better search on here for past posts and there was one that answered my questions...sorry for being a goof and takin up space on the oil issue....j

synth is best and the difference is noticable in feel. change oil often. rinse, repeat.

Yeah, The Auto Vs Car Oil Stuff is getting a little old. If you really want the best stuff for your bike, Get a Premium (ESTER BASED) Full Synthetic... I will still stand up and Cheer for Silkolene from my own experiance, but that's an old discussion as well.

My .02 Put in Silkolene Race Pro-4 10W40 Full Synthetic or Silkolene Race Pro-4 PLUS 10W50 Full Synthetic. Both will make a huge difference in the way you tranny feels, and will help your motor run cooler and stronger. It's overkill for your average street bike, but I love it...

Why not the Mobil1 MX4T?

Does Revlis have you in a chokehold? Are you afraid that you're gonna get banned from the site? Hah, you've got to have a pretty huge set of you-know-what's to go against the Revster...

I just turned 72,000 on my 2000 Busa. Never used
anything but synthetic. (Motul). Seems to work.
Nothing wrong, still running strong.

Myself and many other are using Mobile 1 RED CAP full synthetic oil. It is only $3.00 a quart versus 9.00 for motorcycle oil. It works just fine in my turbo bike and many others for years.

I look at it like this, I spent a chunk a change on my Bike, I don't plan on ever getting rid of it. It's the one I plan on keeping no matter what else I add to the collection. So, Should I skimp? Should I put in a lesser quality product so I can save $20? Well I answered no. Will Silkolene provide me with more protection in a hot humid environment? Yeah I think it will, based on what I have read in regards to Esters and their properties, and why you do not see them more often $$$$. However, can I stand here and tell you that you HAVE to spend $10 a liter for oil or your bike will go boom? No, Hell Wal-mart special 10W40 changed every 3K miles might do the job just as well, but for me I am convinced that this is not where I need to save some money and Hope that down the road I don't have a sludgy oil pan and scored cylinders. This is why I keep harping on the fugging Silkolene till everyone and their brother is ready to beat me about the head and shoulders.

I talked to the sales guy i bought the bike from... hes a long time sportbiker.. but maybe not mechanic.... told him i was going to use mobil 15-50 and he said, "thats car oil , you have to use a bike oil due to the fact it goes to the trany too". Im sure Im flogging a dead horse here but what does the expierenced say about that? sj

Car oil and bike oil is the same shizzz, the oil co. just rob us on the price because they know how much we love our bikes, and other marketing reasons...Anyway if you do use car oil, just make sure on the back of the oil container on the bottom of a little white circle that it does'nt say EC or energy conserving, That has additives in it that will make a wet clutch system slip..

Thats what I am saying! The Mobile 1 "RED CAP" is the poop! less then half the price on MX4T and is actually rated better. I am 300hp on low boost with no slips and smoothest shifting I have ever felt in a bike.

Um... Yeah...

OK, But this really was a discussion about about Synthetic VS Dino Oil... Any thoughts on topic?

When Should you change to full synthetic, should you change the filter, Why does Rev go on and on about Silkolene? Something like that?
