oil....what works best???

Myself and many other are using Mobile 1 RED CAP full synthetic oil.  It is only $3.00 a quart versus 9.00 for motorcycle oil.  It works just fine in my turbo bike and many others for years.
Where do you buy your oil at? I just bought the same shiat for like $4.75 per quart at Walmart. I think it works great and if it keeps the bike running smooth, it is well worth it.

I just turned 72,000 on my 2000 Busa.  Never used
anything but synthetic.  (Motul).  Seems to work.
Nothing wrong, still running strong.

I use Mobile 1 MX4T, it's a little expensive but i don't mind paying the extra bucks.... Walmart use to carry it for a little over 4 bucks a qt, but they stop stocking it..... Auto Zone here charges about 7.99 a Qt. Just went to my local dealer and they said they would sell it to me at 5.99 a QT, so I ended up buying a case from them yesterday.

spectro .. semi senthetic ... till next oil change at 6000 miles then spetro full senthetic there after.

I mentioned to a tuner/mechanic today that I run full synthetic and he said I should be careful "romping on it" that it makes the clutch slip more and will wear them out faster.

i wonder why that is?? i mean ive heard that synthetic is way too viscous, and would do that too.. but apparently everyone uses it here...hmmm wonder if its all just opinions anyway when guys tell u that it messes up the clutch...opinions are like a$$holz...everyone has em and they all stink ! lol......i dont really know the physics of it but it seems to be the way to go, at least on this board.

I would probably feel the same way but, this tuner/mechanic has a strong reputation here as a engine builder, tuner, all around motorcycle mechanic(specializes in metric bikes), retired stunter, road racer, and basically a good guy that only will promote what he knows to be truth. Not to mention, he is "The One" that all of the local busa guys go to(other than the posers and super squids). I have worked with him in his shop and see him build drag bikes, street sleepers, and full blown blingers. I honestly feel he would not shoot me a line of crap and he knows I turn a lot of my own wrenches. I wouldn't even bother him with an oil change, lol. I am like all you guys & girls, I just want to do what is best for my busa. That is why I switched to full synthetic but, now I am undecided again. Dammit!

anyplace online i can get silkolene pro 4 cheap?
also what do u guys think about engine ice or water wetter?  use it? or no?
Not that I am aware of Bro, there seems to be some sort of conspiracy in place to make certain you pay at least $10 a liter, no more than $12... But if you find it cheaper let me know....

Hey Bro, I really do think it is an age thing. The older mechanics (50 Somethings) at the dealership seem to think I am screwing up by running the full synthetic starting at 2500 miles. The younger guys fresh from MMI say hells yeah load that Beeeyotch up with synthetic... I think it's mostly cause there were some issues with earlier full synthetics in the 80's and early 90's and they older guys base their opinions more on past experiance (Which is no bad thing) while the younger guns don't have this "Synth Bad" mind set... I dunno... My Dad swears I am going to destroy my motor using the full synthetic, so I know I am on the right path...

I also think that some of the Old School guy think of Some of the shadey assed synthetic additives (PTFE comes to mind) that do have a documented history of fugging up motors....

Consensus my ass!

At the end of the day just use whatever oil you feel comfy with and change it and the filter regularly. You can’t go too far wrong.

Experiment for yourself, it’s not that long between changes.

I’m happy with Silk for now.

Cheers
Ross
