I’m currently in the market for my last and final bike. I have made a Deal with the wife, I’m considering the Gen 3 busa , a nice Gen 2 or a Zx14R. I have located a nice low mile black 2019 model has full exhaust, tuned, gsxr 1k wheels, lowered, small stretch with extension $13k. Gen 3 all black low miles for $14.5k, and a 2020 zx-14r black and green for $11k. Any guys who have both or have had both I would like to hear your honest thoughts on all 3.

thank you.. well.. I don’t own a bike anymore and haven’t since I started having kids in 2015 lol. 5 kids later it’s time for a new bike. I’ll mainly do some town riding, some interstate trips to bike nights and events within a few hour radius. Plan on Doing some two up riding with my wife as well.

I'd go the gen 3 if it's that close in price. Tons of aftermarket and still growing. If you get a gen 2 you'll likely always wonder if you should have gotten the gen 3. I got the gen 2 because it's was only $9500 with 6k miles and there is little difference in power or frame.
But if there was a gen 3 for only $1,500 more than I would have definitely pulled the trigger based off logic. I don't use or want any of the electronics but I like new Shiny things like the next guy.

Thank you for the advice.. I’m paying cash and trying to get the best bang for the buck lol. $14-$15k cash is a lot to drop down but then again so is $10k lol but yes I see your point… for $1500 the best bet is to get the new model. Because in the end .. I’d be asking myself .. should I have just spent the little extra and gotten the most out of the money?

The Gen 3 isn't worth an extra $7k over the Gen2 original price tag. Buts it's definitely worth $1,500 more. Tons of electronics and features. I can't see you looking back with regret wishing you got a gen 2 with less features.

If I were in the market for another bike, a Gen 3 Hayabusa would be a no brainer.....

The Gen 2 although a stellar bike is outdated
The ZX14R follows this same route as being a great bike but is also outdated....
The Gen 3 is modern with lots of features that can either be shut off or used....it's up to the rider....

For the difference in price, the Gen 3 is the clear choice....

The best part is there are many You Tube video reviews on all these bikes as well as many owners on this forum....

Thank you sir. Yea I’m keeping myself to a budget. I’m trying to find the best deal possible within that. Originally $12k was gonna be my max but finding a nice low mile gen 2 busa or gen 3 for that matter is rather .. tough lol. I have newer model zx14rs all within my price range. So I have raised my max to $14k but only for a decent low mile gen 3 I’ve been able to find some in that price range but black seems to be least common color . I’m not a big fan of that bright silver and red.. I’d settle for white but black is fastest color . We all know that right ? .

Thank you sir. Yes my top choice is the Gen 3. It’s all about pricing and finding one close enough to me to pick up without having to travel a long distance or have it shipped for another $1000 lol

You will beat yourself up if you don't get the gen3. It has real cruise control and up-down clutchless shifting. The cruise alone is worth $2k to me because of the relief on the wrist and back. When on cruise not in a lot of traffic, I just put one finger on the bar alternating my left hand and right. As long as my butt can take it, I can ride for hours and I'm going on 69 years old. Also get the lowering foot pegs from eBay for about $50 and the handlebar height increaser and you'll be all set. Yeee hawww, get down on it brothers., jam it wide open  and redline it!!!

I would also lean towards the Gen 3. No bike is perfect but even with the brake recalls and faulty quick shifter (not everyone has issues with it) it's still a very nice bike. The electronics are awesome, you have full control over most of it and ride by wire cruise is awesome if you get out for a longer ride. Check to see if the brake recalls have been applied. There are two of them that I know of and one is very recent.

I'm on a Gen 1, so my experience is apples and oranges. My buddy calls my 'Busa the "Bentley of motorcycles" as I do mostly sport touring. Rural two lanes, the twistier the better. Hopefully for a day or two. It does this very well.

She will do interstate in reasonable comfort. I can usually get 200 miles from a tank. I just added a "sport touring" windshield.

My wife likes the comfort of a conventional touring bike over the Suzuki. Mostly that the sport bike foot pegs are higher than she likes. We do a few limited outtings a year. I can recall conciously thinking when I bought it that the 'Busa was a "full size" sport bike with a decent rear pillion. I still think that. Keep the bike / trade the wife...

There is so much aftermarket for these. The bike gets recognized everywhere, even by non-bikers. It's super torquey and wicked fast. I prefer something nearly stock / mine came with a pipe on it. No regrets about buying the Suzuki.

Awesome machine brother! Thank you for that advice. Yea I’m hoping to add a few things to adjust to raise to comfort level a wee bit lol

That’s exactly my thoughts as well and for me.. I love the analog/ tft display over the old one.

Sounds like the Zx is getting scratched off the list. Agree with this
I rarely two-up but I think any gen might require mods to accommodate serious two-up touring, no? Like the handlebars, maybe an RDL seat, etc?

I have all 3 Gens of Busa and both Gens of the ZX-14. If I had to choose one it would be the Gen3 Busa. Perhaps the comfort just suits me, but I find it does everything that I need. Can I go fast on it - yes? Can I ride distance on it - yes? Does it have a large aftermarket - yes? Can it be made to do whatever is needed - yes? Good deals can be found on new ones, but used Gen3s are quite affordable. Don't think you can go wrong with any of the bikes you are looking at, but I would definitely choose the Gen3.

Thank you! Yes , this is what I was looking to hear as well. I’m not very tall, I’m 5’9, 200lbs currently (testosterone shots are messing with my weight lol), I have been riding liter bikes for 20 years but never a busa I think it’s time lol.

lol well the zx was just added by proxy lol the busa was always first choice. I’m not gonna do a lot of long distance two up. But the occasional shouldn’t be too terrible.

I'm a bigger guy - 6'3", 220 lbs. I have liter bikes, as well, but the size and weight of the Busa works well for me. You will enjoy it for sure.
