Yep, for those of you just tunning in my beautiful 2008 Hayabusa got owned by a black Cobra Mustang this past weekend! Not being a Ford fan I didn't show him any love (Not that it mattered, cause all I ever saw was tail lights). Cruising with six or so other bikes down a stretch of highway (2 lane) when at about 60 mph this Cobra Stang comes rolling up on me. Not wanting to be disrespected by any car I roll the throttle on and pin it! He does the same almost anticipating my every move.... Ha I think to myself this is going to be ridiculously fun.. Two more gears go by, bang bang as I hit the shifter the roar of the motor and wind whipping past my head is almost deafening. My eyes are glued on the RPM gauge being very careful not to pass into the red zone! One gear left and I'm squeezing the throttle pretty hard while tucked into a nice little ball... Smiling now excited with the thought of my first casualty (Cars that is) I glance away from the gauges. WTF..... He's not next to me and even worse as I foucus hard on the rearview mirrors I see nothing. Damn, that can only mean one thing, my smile has reverted by now to that sad puppy dog look that only your pet can make. He was in front by a distance that I would rather not share. Shamefully I throttle off and none to soon as I cress a small hill I can faintly make out the siloutte of a squad car heading my way.. The Black Mustang is now but a memory. Later that same car pulls into a QT (convience store) the group has gathered to and proudly displays his ride! What a beautiful car I think to myself eagar to see whats under the hood. He waste no time popping the hood for all to see. His demeanor instantly changes when showing off his handy work to that of the proud parent displaying for the first time his newborn child. Only this was his car and one very fast one at that. Under the hood was a beautiful turbo system freshly installed with lots of beautiful craftsmenship. Everything had its place and the install looked flawless. While everyone gathered we discussed the days events and exchanged thoughts about the days happenings. Owned by a turbo Cobra Stang wasn't so bad as I soon realized his passion for that automobile was in deed equal to and dare I say even more so than my love of our Busa. So, if your ever out in my neck of the woods keep your eyes peeled for one very quick Black Cobra Mustang!

Hey Waterbug think of it this way...it took a Turbo stang to give you the spank! Suffice it to say, way to rep bro, ther's a whole lot more tasty car meat out there 2 years ago I spanked a WRX on my R6..of course due to the Nitrous and air shifter
rofl.gif
keep it pushing dog you won't get many riders out there to even try to hang with a pony good job!

OK Sonny next time take it off the C mode before you pin the throttle.....

Bug I'm feeling a stage 1 or 2 turbo system for you. Then go play with that stang and see what happens.

Crazy stuff but it took a turbo to beat up on you was it a twin turbo set up or a single wonder what hes putting down to the ground keep your head up bug

Don't want to take away anything from this owner cause it was what it was.... He won, I lost!

Now onto another issue. I'm still getting the FI warning light and I never broke 9k RPM, but he still easily left me sitting still. Capt, I wish I could have said it was in Mode "C" but I'd be lying... Going in the shop Tuesday.

aww dont feel bad... the, Cobra has put more than one unsuspecting hot rod in the rear view over the years.. (mildly tuned, a new Cobra with a hair dryer can turn out 600-650hp, lean on it? 750+)

I bet the look on your face was priceless

Now if you would like to try "apples to apples" you might find a slightly different outcome

Before a nice lady total'd it for me, my 03 cobra put down a nice 474.5whp/512wtq and that was with minor mods.

*****!

Nothing comes past me!! NOTHING I TELL YOU!!

Seriously though dude, WTF? Our toys are capable of 0-180 in 17 seconds. No car, well no car below 900k, none will do that let alone a 50k Garry boy mustang. Never share these embarssments on this forum again.

If your FI light is on, you were running on reduced power... Especially if you never went over 9k on revs.. you needed to be at the 11K zone..;) zfix the bike and run him again, heehee..

(Put a small 40 shot of Nitrous on, there will be no happyness for him then lol..;)

Don't know what might be wrong with your bike Sonny...why not go past 9K? and if
your bike has a problem, why race anybody? Not taking anything away from the Cobra, there
are some fast cars out there, just if your not able to do a job right...why half arse
a race

Sounds like Beems!! Hit me up when you are riding. I moved from Derby to Wichita. The mustang you really need to watch for is Freaks 03 Cobra.

I noticed in your "play by play" that you didn't kick down a couple of gears. Not to say that you would have beat him but I know I've underestimated a couple of bikes and thought that merely turning the throttle would get the job done. Fight on
muscle.gif

Kc, get that bike looked at asap. Unless he was around 800 hp, you should have taken him.

Correct all.... Yes didn't downshift, cause I didn't take him for being serious! First mistake. Nope wasn't really planning on getting on it either casue of the FI issues, Second mistake! By the time I realized what was happening it was to late

Now if I'd only been on ole Blue.....

Welll sorry to hear your FI light is still an issue, hopefully its minor and gets fixed asap.

Never underestimate, everytime that happens we read posts like this "Owned by a Geo Metro..." Of course you can't beat a fricken turbo mustardstain, not when your limpin' it. For the Stang to be "apples to apples" he needs to be pushing way more than 800hp, take the power and weight into account.... busa = 175/500 stang = x/3250 (that a pretty light stang remind you) = 500/3250 = 6.5, 175 * 6.5 = x or, 1137.5hp. So until we get the shifting down, limp mode fixed, lets stick with apples to pomegranites!

We have quite a few cars running around here that are more than capable of running 9's and low 10's on Drag Radials. One of them is a Monte Carlo with T-tops. It has been low 9's and is the ultimate sleeper. You don't really here the turbo until its too late. Never underestimate what's beside you here!!
