I am fully aware of 9sec sleepers, but still from a 60 roll, it takes more than your average 9sec sleeper to run like a busa does. Most 9sec cars, and I'm sure you agree, get their slips from low 60' and the massive acceleration from the low low. Unlike a 900hp turbo Supra, which leaves the line slow, has its peak power in the high end of the rpm scale and shifts frequently to keep it there and runs like a bat out of hell. I'm positive with a non-FI Lit 08' and rider at the ready, there is no street savvy mustang capable of putting the Busa to sleep like that, just my opinion I'm sure.

keep your chin up, sounds lie your ride was down on some power with the F1 light on, dont they stay in the safe mode when they sense a problem like that?

As much as a hate to say it, there are quite a few '03-'04 turbocharged "Terminator" Cobras that have what it takes to put a stock 'busa down, especially from a roll... and yes they are street-savvy.

The impact of power/weight ratio is inversely proportional to speed/wind resistance.  Outright HP and aerodynamics play a bigger role exponentially at higher speeds.

I was Terminator shopping for a couple months before I picked up the 'busa in December and I've seen quite a few guys on the SVT forum with turbo Terminators that can be street driven which will walk a 'busa from a roll.  Here's an example of one that would eat a 'busa from a roll, and in this vid would win in the quarter too! http://videos.streetfire.net/video....262.htm

This one would do the trick too:

This topic is kind of

from this thread https://www.hayabusa.org/forums/?act=ST;f=6;t=86888 , but I'll say it again... 800 hp or so is usually enough from a roll.  If this guy had his turbo done right that's probably where he is at least!

No shame in your game, you had too much working against you on this one!

And aerodynamics are not in the Stang's favor, thus requiring exponentially more power to overcome the inherit drag. Yeah, we'll call it a dead horse. I've played with many a "terminators" and the likes, none impressed me that much we'll leave it at that.

weight really is not that big an issue on a longer run (1/2 or more) and in some cases is a plus... (not on the street but say Bonneville)

I have seen these 9 second turbo cars (might have been involved in a couple

) and it is not hard to do with a few bucks

Of course the ones you normally encounter you'll kill! That's a given. Stock charger or even a Whipple or KB supercharger won't really give them enough to hang with a 'busa.

If you run across the rare 900+ rwhp turbo Terminator though, just be prepared to see taillights at higher speeds (on a stock 'busa).

By the way, bikes have pretty terrible aerodynamics for their size. Even Hayabusas. Just too many bumps and valleys, particulartly the rider.

Have you pulled the codes on the bike yet Sonny?
My fuel filter was all clogged up when my bike wouldn't go over 9K.
Wasn't getting enough fuel.
Shouldn't be a problem on a new bike though.

The FI issue will keep that Busa running reduced power. With everything working correctly an 08 can end up on one wheel even in 3rd gear. Yes, a good setup car can take a properly running Busa if it has around 1100hp. Nick Slick has a few pretty wild Corvette vs Busa videos. Get you bike dynoed and diagnosed. It should be putting down around 175rwhp in 4th gear (closest to 1:1).

It's fun to ride hard, just do it in a safe environment.

Bike is in the shop today... Delivered it this morning will keep you posted. Correct you are in that the bike doesn't pull hard enough to lift the front wheels at speeds greater than 50 mph. Wishing it would have been running strong enough to hang but just didn't have it in it on Sunday. All good points, but the most important one is that I LOST. Period, no matter the excuse, no matter what state my bike was in, he got me and I'm good with that.. Just makes me wanna come back for more! Yea, I wish I'd would of taken ole Blue with me on Sunday but the fact still remains I didn't. So, maybe there will be a rematch in my future. One things for sure I'm going to be ready next time taking nothing for granted.

aw, just makes victory that much better

I would bet that when he nailed it hard with his right foot that his right hand also yanked down to whatever gear his engine would tolerate at that speed, and then he redlined it through the rest of the gears. Could be wrong but thats would I would have done and then powershifted the hell out of it too. No offense but if you just opened up with out getting into the upper RPM of the zook, or significant downshifting I dont think you had a chance. When I street raced (years ago) I looked for and took similar advantage of the situation you experienced, and it all happens pretty quick. And I've been snookered too. (street savy = getting the jump) But then again, I understand your position and what you said. Personally I'd look for a rematch where he doesnt get a chance to "set you up". I think based on what you seen in the car the worst you could do is run dead even. But you do have to dog it when your racing hard. Just a guess. Let us know if you get a rematch and good luck fixing the FI.

If your FI light is on, you were running on reduced power... Especially if you never went over 9k on revs.. you needed to be at the 11K zone..;) zfix the bike and run him again, heehee..

(Put a small 40 shot of Nitrous on, there will be no happyness for him then lol..;)
Yep Bug...when an FI light is on the bike usually goes into "limp" mode...or reduced power mode to protect the engine. Plus you needed to be close to redline for each shift to maximize your power.....otherwise when you grab the next gear, you drop out of your "peak" powerband and the bike has to climb back into it. Sounds like you took a sick dog to the fight

I wonder how our turbo Super Street Gixxer 1K would do against these hot cars, hee hee....

I used to race some bikes with this: a 68 roadrunner that ran mid 8's... Sometimes I miss it.. sigh, lol

Some of you guys are selling the stangs short. They don't call those cobra's "Terminators" for nothing. Very easy to get some big power out of them with just a few bolt on goodies. Start turbo boosting them and believe it: they will Hunt and kill supra's. Wether the bike is running well or not you should be happy you gave the car a run like that. Sounds like he may be at 800ish if you got the lead on him at first and then he walked you. Lil tuning and maybe some spray just for backup if ever needed and you'll probably change the outcome unless he's making over 1k.

I had a friend in SoCal who was running just short of 800hp on his Cobra. It's a scary fast ride...
