Pacific Northwest

Here's a deal from a friend of mine .

The Seattle International Motorcycle Show will be December 12-14th. The cost of admission is $13 at the door, however, I have a way to save you more money.

If you go online to order your ticket at Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows - Home Page you will automatically receive $1.00 off. Triumph of Tacoma has been issued $3.00 online discount tickets which you can use which brings your total savings to $4.00 off. That is the largest savings offer possible and hopefully you can take advantage of that! I brought a bunch of tickets home so if you don't have time to come into the shop I can still e-mail you a code number from a ticket that you can use. Let your friends and others know. If you use our code then we will receive a small kickback which we will put towards riding events.

I'm going to be riding to the show on December 14th (as long as there is not 3 feet of snow on the ground...) if anyone wants to ride just let me know.

Ride safe,
Vena

Same here Even if I work I will go in the afternoon . I work at the airport so i'm close . Hopefully it will be nice weather.

The place above is a good one Vena is a rider that Neely , Manatrader , Bentvalve , Scootergirl , and alot more of us have ridden with . So if you want a discount call them .

Not bad ! I officially own a car for the first time since 91 . My wife got a new car so I now drive the suv . Just in time for winter .

I have now moved from Idaho to the Pacific north west, Just out side of Seattle in Renton, I like the area and lots of cool roads. Give me a shout if something is going on or you wanna ride. Have a good one all

It's been far too long. I had to bump this back to the top. It's been a boring three weeks looking at three perfectly good motorcycles sitting in my garage. :banghead:

Sadly, I have you beat, and I am none too happy about it.....

The K8 has been down for maintenance since late September. True story... a long and tearful one.

New tires/chain/sprockets/coolant/air filter/spark plugs/oil/fork service.... it's like it never ends. Have had numerous holdups on parts.... had to do the chain twice (dorked away the peening of the master rivet, had to get another).... it's like a freakin' Greek tragic comedy trying to get this beotch back on the road.

Admittedly, temps in the upper-20's/low 30's when I depart for work every morning has not helped my motivation. I am spoiled having a big-ass FJR windshield to duck behind on the way to work in the bitter cold.

Stupid winter.... :disagree: :banghead:

You have a bike that you can ride. I can't get my leg over any of my bikes without lifting my leg with my arm. Once I've ridden for a few minutes I loose all feeling in both my legs. I can't feel the ground when I stop.

I will be off the bikes until I can get my lower back fixed again. But that's another story.

Sorry to hear you Busa is down. Let me know if your dealer can't get you the parts you need. I have a few leads I can tap for you.

Me neither, but mine is primarily due to hypothermia... :disagree:

???

Say, what?! Shyeah, I missed out on all this story... did you get yourself damaged, mang? Or flareup of an old injury or some such? What's the deal here? :dunno:

More importantly... what's the prognosis?

I mangled the L3 to S1 discs in my back in the Army. A couple of years ago I had 30% of the L4-L5 disc removed because it was pressing my spinal cord against the lamina (bones that cover the spinal cord) and the L5 root nerve.

I woke up feeling good a few weeks ago. I rode the DR650 to work. I started having muscle spasms in my lower back about an hour later. That lasted all day. I rode home that evening and couldn't lift my right leg back to get off the bike. Tuesday I woke up with a very sore lower back, and numbness in both legs. I hobbled down the stairs went to the doctors office to find out what was wrong.

That's the long version.

Diagnosis: I ruptured the scare tissue on the L4-L5 lumbar disc. The disc jelly has spread from the L4 to the S1 root nerves on both sides of my spinal cord. The MRI pictures I looked at yesterday looks like a cloud covering most of the lower portion of my spinal cord. That is what's causing the numbness, pins and needles, burning sensations, muscle spasms and occasional weakness in the legs.

Prognosis: I have to do an EMG Tuesday before the VA will decide what action to take next. Since the L4 and L5 vertebrae already rub so they can't take anymore out of that disc for cleanup. Since L5-S1 and L3-L4 are both damaged they won't do a disc replacement. I'm a very likely candidate for fusion on L4-L5 and L5-S1. I don't want that option, but it's the most likely at this point.

In short, I'm retired from riding anything until I get something done to fix my back. I'll have to live vicariously through others until I can ride again. So keep riding.

I feel you on that one. Last year I upgraded to Tour Master Synergy heated gear. That made riding in the sub 30's pretty comfortable. They cost less than Gerbing, and get plenty hot. I also wear Gortex socks made by Rocky when it gets that cold.

Since my wife got a new car I have ben driving the old SUV to the bus stop and riding it to work everyday . I went out and started my bike yesterday for the first time in a month . I've never not ridden this long in about 18 years . Bikes are all i've owned and I would not park them at a park and ride but now its nice I can sleep on the way to work !
