I was sitting back waiting to see how things turned out hoping things turned out for the best but here's my encounter with Nick Smith


Dang I hate to have to do this but, and I hate to kick a man when he's down. But I'm in the same boat as BB just further out in the water. I sent mine UPS on Feb 12 and they were recieved on Feb 14th. What was suppose to be a quick 1 week turnaround or at least back so I could roll to Daytona Bikeweek on MArch 4, has now become almost 6 weeks with 2 promises that they were in the mail (March 12 and March 18 respectively) and there still not here .... And now I'm wondering if they are going to come back. Not to mention that its not just my dash panels, but my inner fairings, and the plastics on the tank. So basically I'm 6 weeks out with two false promises that my stuff is in the mail (my request for a tracking # hasn't been responded to

  ). Not to mention that I got into this because he posted that he needed a swingarm and we made a trade of swingarm and cash for the paintings --- Needless to say I'm out a swingarm, the cash -which in all honesty just went out yesterday because it was just requested for the additional pieces which was per or agreement-no gripe on that). my dash panel, inner fairings, and patience.....

But while I'm frustrated about the delay, I'm more frustrated with the lack of communication and the 2 false promises that the parts were already in the mail and on the way.

The joy of getting the parts painted has been lost as I sit here and wonder whether I'm just going to have to replace the parts ...and then make a trip to Fla

And I'm aware that personal problems and issues come up. But in those situations its best to state that a project either cannot be completed and return the owner his property and money; or communicate HONESTLY with the owner of the property to see what can be worked out. In cases where there is an emergency most riders would understand, but to make false promises about the return of a busa owners property begins to smack of illegitimacy, theft, and bad buisness practice. Especially when other riders on other boards are reporting the same problems.

However, before I condemn Nick I'll give him a chance to get my parts here by Friday the 26th of March.

I hope that you hear something and get your parts. I have sent a note that there was several posts on the board about customers looking for info.
 
The parts started showing up at the doors today.  Hopefully Nick will come out and explain what the deal was and why there was no communication.  It will most likely ease some of the anger.

The inners that were delivered today were sent out Monday 3/22 from Nick. They originally arrived at Nicks shop in January to be painted.

Hey Nick - we all know you read and post here. Come on and be a man here and do the right thing and sort our BusaBrother.
 
I have heard some pretty compelling reasons (off line) as to why Nick may be slow walking. So for your experience I must say I can't begin to understand how you're holding up. On the same token, If you cannot fulfill your obligations due to these circumstances. Just let us know. We would understand, man. We could go elsewhere. Peace be with you.
 
I dont know him, and do my own paintwork but i do know how things get when your busy and when you may be a bit of a procrastinator. Although i feel for all the peaple having problems I also know that when your only one person with a complaint, each person and there indiavidual complaint are the only thing your thinking about which makes it easier to focus.  

Not that big of a deal to handle one problem for you.  Unfortinatley all those single problems add up and when your one guy receiving all the complaints they add up fast.  When you are super busy trying to please everyone it gets to the point where there just to much to do and your jammed.  Try having tons of problems to think about and see how important this one ends up becoming.

 Heres something to think about you guys sent your stuff to him cuz hes good, ive personally read that hes the guy to talk to for that type of paint work.  Now imagine having an overwhelming amount of work, cuz your so good, and not having enough time in the day to please everyone.  At some point you are going to tell the customer there on the way with full intensions on getting them done and sending them,  then but being so busy you get sidetracked and forget about it.  

Then comes the time where you are questioned again.  Your are gunna feel so bad about telling people your good intensions on pleasing them, which you have full intensions on fullfilling, you will  have to hide from the problem till you have time to solve it.  I no its a kind of sucky way to do buisness but he may just be ashamed of him self for not being able to do what he said he would .

  now take into account that(from what i understand)painting  is a hobby for extra money.  Bottom line good things are worth the wait.  I know it sucks but thats just how it is I havent heard or read that he stuck any one just that he takes awhile.  I say patience is a need when getting this type of custom work done the fact that he can get you seals write out just supports the fact that hes trying to please everyone plus that is something that dont involve a lot of time.


 Im not saying you guys are wrong for being upset  alls im saying is that we have all been overwhelmingly busy before and just didnt have the time to get our poop straight. put your selves in his shoes cuz thats all i did  and i can under stand where hes coming from its not write its  how it is  just my pennys worth of openminded mediating but i hope it eases the tension a bit never really saw much negative on this board
 
While I wait impatiently at this point ... I'm gonna give Nick the benefit of the doubt ... And believe my parts will be here no later than saturday.

Just a <marquee>WORD</marquee> from Nick or a friend of Nick or a neighbor, would go a long way and save nick and everyone a lot of time and problems.

Even after all the conversation on this one, I don't like the way it smells. Hope it's not a bad outcome busabrother...

I just got off the phone with Nick. Yes HE called me. We talked for quite a while. He had some serious explaining to do. But I kept it cival and relevant. NOw according to him, he is going through another very tough situation. I must take him at his word, cuz that's all any of us have in this forum. Now the deal is he will have my parts to me by MOnday. If not, then. Well we will cross that bridge when we come to it. I will be patient for a few days more. I will keep everyone appraised of the issue. If Nick squares the deal. I will say so and our transaction will be complete. It is also my understanding he will be contacting everyone else and posibly maiking a public statement today or tommorrow. Again I have to take him at his word. Nick, Good luck to you in your situation.
 
Great that you have heard something. Let's hope it works out positive for everyone.
 
well i'm glad you heard from him and i'll be waiting on mine as well or at least some word on a delivery date
 
I would like to apologize for any inconvience that was caused to anyone that sent the Inners to be painted. I have been going through some personal stuff (I wont go into details). I had a Friend do the Inners for me. I have used him before but this time he screwed up but I will take 100% responsibility. Several of you have decided tosend your Inner Back to me. I will do them and get them back out to you. Others have decided to accept free sets of Ramair seals. Some of those have already been mailed (email me for Install instructions). Again I'd like tosay sorry for the screw up
