Unfortunately she is not ALWAYS by the bike. Sometime I have to use her skills in other areas.
Noise maker alarms do not work. My friend had a Scorpio alarm on his bike when it was jacked at a coffee shop here in Houston. Witnesses all told the cops that four guys came up to the bike. One was carrying a helmet and wearing a Joe Rocket Jacket, appearing to be the owner. When someone asked why they were loading the bike into a truck, the thief calmly said he lost his key and was just trying to get the bike HOME!! What's worse...? The witness actually helped them LOAD THE BIKE feeling sorry for the thief losing his key!!! The alarm was going off the entire time making noise!
My system doesn't make a sound. The bike simply will not start. If it is being moved, sat on or taken... the bike literally sends my cell a text message. If in 30 seconds I do not disarm the bike, it goes fully active and notifies the call center. The call center then tries to contact me. If they cannot reach me or I do not have my bike in sight they immediately activate the police dispatch. Two things happen here... One, the bike geocaches police info systems in their cars and shows a theft in progress with my info and the actual Google World Maps location, speed and altitude of the bike. Secondly the call center gives the same info directly to the Police dispatch. While the bike is active, its bluetooth searches for any cell phones in area and if found, copies their ESN sending it to the call center for further tracking.
The first system I installed on a friend's bike was tested 3 weeks later. He parked it at a movie theater and went inside with his girlfriend. Idiot turned off his cell and was outside the range of the keyfob to catch the notification. While inside, four guys dumped his bike onto a mattress, lifted it up into the bed of a truck and proceeded to drive across Houston to a chop shop. They decided the first shop's price offer wasn't good enough so they went to a second location where they made a deal. Cops were watching the entire time! When the deal went down, the cops moved in and busted them all. At the first stop, 14 stolen bikes were recovered along with Hundreds of parts and three computers all filled with tens of thousands of parts listed on eBay and Craigs. Seven arrests were made and then on to the second stop. Three arrests were made at the second stop as two of the original thieves fled on foot. Another 5 bikes were recovered including one POLICE Escort Harley that had been stolen the week before!! All this from tracking One Bike!!
