Polishing Your Dragrace Skills.

And if the guy reaches over and hits your kill switch, he can give the .3 away with a smile! (this is where the conflict resolution part comes up)

I have found that most street racers,
unless they are "national caliber"... Keith Dennis, Chris Williams, Micheal Phillips,
Rickey Gadson etc.( These guys have traveled all over the country to street race for BIG $$$$$) Stay away from the lie-detector (oops I mean drag strip!) because they don't like the numbers that show up on the boards!

It is hard to have a heavy hitter reputation if you prove to everyone that you suck.

Maui, probably racing close enough to a guy where he can reach over and hit your kill is not great practice. Reminds me of a race I saw a while back where a car and bike went on, the car got loose and took out the bike just like that. Maybe that's why I turn down those car vs. bike races....hmmmmm.

Or!!! you could play the sand bagging Game like a few boy's I know were doing at Prostar-Indy this year.

Sand bag the Bike at the track for everybody to see...

Then at night on the street, RAKE IN THE CASH!!!

Lion's drag way LA, in the fifty's and early sixty's they raced six wide!

That was meant as a joke. There's no room for pranks like that if you're racing. I take racing very seriously. I don't get to do it enough. Doing that kind stuff is silly.

Good advice to watch out for cars though!

Maui

I grew up at Lions. It certainly did not have enough room to run 6 wide. It was a narrow two lane track, probably not as wide as todays NHRA tracke.

It's great to see all the different technic's.(Keep'em coming!)

Everybody that has replied has hit it right on the Head!(They're all good)

In My opinion Street racing is harder to learn. If you can Street race good then in most cases you'll be able to pick up Dragstrip racing with ease. In sreet racing there are alot more things that become a factor.

It's all about knowing your Bike.

Understand the things you Can do & the things you Can't with your bike. That makes a good Racer.

Every bike has it's own style, thats where you have to learn how to adapt. And I can tell you that most races are lost at the starting line. People either sleep or loose traction. They will over excite themselfs and give it too much Clutch, resulting in wheel spin.

One thing is for sure, You need a Starter method that you can trust, and one that is fair. Most guy's cheat with the Starter.

One way I like to be started is by having another bike down by the finish line blinking there lights, the third time the lights come on that means GO!!

Dp: The best advice I could give you is...

Go out in the middle of nowhere and practice.
1. Learn how to let your clutch out without spinning your tire.
2. Learn how to ride out a wheelie if it comes up on you in 1st gear.
3. Learn how to foot shift without useing your clutch.(Or take the easy way out and buy a Airshifter)
4. Know your shift points.(What Rpm to shift at in every gear)
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY...Learn how to set your Busa up to your Style! (Tire pressure, shock settings, gearing ect ect.)

Anybody, just ask the Question!

There are MANY of US on here that can help.

I must have it switched, I'll ask my "old timer" friend, he's the one who told me about it. seems I saw a couple pictures...oh well. They close down all the good tracks don't they?...Lions was a while back huh?

BTW, Thanks for the good roll out definition

I just looked at your web page, great tour. You got a nice business there.
