No need. It will degrade from within. First ripples with Musk are happening, within a week of inauguration. It's sad but this is Trump and that never changes.
Dude get off your high horse and realize I have one of the most foreign sounding names and am part of one of the most discriminated groups out there even more so than blacks now because both those groups call us camel jockeys, goat humpers and terrorists. I've been subjected to more 'racism' and discrimination than ALL of you here. And I ain't crying about it or screaming for justice.
Nothing is stopping anyone from accomplishing anything in this country now, nothing.
See post #45 for my solution. Put em all paper. Don't even ask sex or gender or whatever, nothing. Solely their qualifications and abilities. Pick the best one and call em up.
Anyone who doesn't do this then you take it up with them individually.

I do agree that getting the best person into a job should be based on their merit and not the color of their skin/race/ethnicity......
Gone are the days of overt racial discrimination...there will always be a marginal amount of it though unfortunately...

With the wars fought in the Middle East, the radical Islamic extremists have become the enemy of the west which garners suspicion especially amongst veterans who have been attacked by everything from the elderly to women and kids.
For a while I was very cautious when I saw anyone in a burka as often the jihadists would wear them to get close to our units.....
I've since gotten over that and am comfortable around them again........but many haven't and still see Muslim people as their enemy.
Kind of like how during and after WW2 the Japanese and Germans were all discriminated against even the ones that were born and raised in the west. Look at all the Japanese internment camps we had.....
You assume everyone has your fortitude and makeup. Not so. People can not be allowed to treat people like that. My take, any way.
Modern hiring practices sort of help; sometimes it’s not until the third interview that face to face takes place. I truly hope it’s better.

Fortitude is an idividual trait no? Because someone does not have it you want to legislate flawed laws to help them? Nnnnope? Sorry life and society is cruel. I still don't have the Aston Martin I want wah wah wah. Get over it or don't.

Hi. I am 1/2 English and 1/2 German my dad was 100% German. He was with General Patton in WW 2.
An Aston Martin? How just a chance? Some worthy people never get that because of the color of their skin. You think your own experience makes that ok. I don’t.

I've found from my many trips and stays in the US, Americans are very race conscious......far more than we Canadians...although some of this is spilling into our society of late due to a very strong American influence .
I also think racism or lack of it is a cultural thing in many cases. When in Africa, the locals treated the black soldiers in our unit the same as they treated us.....which was indifferent.......they didn't look at them as long lost brothers but as westerners that can't be 100% trusted.
I admit, I kind of expected the locals to accept our black soldiers more than us....but that wasn't the case.
Some other countries we were in, the units we trained with were incredulous that we didn't know the religions of our fellow soldiers....I told them we don't care about such things.....they were very religion focused and when we went into areas which had any Christian people, they knew exactly where they lived and who they were....oddly they left them alone and didn't push Islam on them.....which I found interesting.....

I think racism is a word invented by white people to lay guilt trips on each other. No other culture seems to 'suffer' from it and yet they all look down their noses at the other races. It's just a part of being human, part of being in a tribe so to speak. It explains all the wars throughout all time, it explains why the Americans Indian slaughtered each other long before any white colonial influence was on the scene lol. What were the Africans doing before they were herded onto the Black birders, sitting around having BBQ's? They were murdering each other at a furious rate. Tribe against tribe, nation against nation.
Of course if you go anywhere in the world with a pocket full of money or an overpowering army you'll typically get respect from the locals. People often mistake other cultures' friendliness for what it is, a mercantile transaction that takes tourist dollars from a visitors pocket and deposits it into foreign till. The relative peace we have seen over the 3/4 of a century is due simply to the abundance of wealth oil has brought. Take that away and watch how fast people go for each others throats.

I think it's the fear of coexisting with those that look or feel differently. It's the fear of loss of sovereignty of a race or creed. Basically, it's an insecurity, but one that has caused mankind a whole lot of trouble.
You need to take a second look. Everybody, to varying extents, suffers from it.
