I am trying to start a small business (motorcycle related), and wanted to mention my web-site in the post. However, I am aware that there are certain rules about it, which I don't want to violate. Looked around on the site, and found nothing about it. Please let me know.

Are you wanting a banner or just wanting to tell about your web site. I think if you just want to tell about your site it shouldnt be a prob. but dont hold me to it i just hang our here.
