Raider... oh raider...  **DECISION MADE***

You got us looking now Rev, here is what the lovley mrs. K and I were checking out Saturday morning. They don't really cost that much more than a nice truck, and for a six cylinder, I was amazed at the get up and go, it sucked me into the seat everytime I nailed the gas. It has a 7 speed automatic and 265 horspower. My wifes favorite part was the hardtop that converted to a convertable in a matter of seconds.

I'm with G-Busa here, Rev...

The Lancer Evo and the WRX are no machines to sneeze at. Awesome handling and impressive grunt for a 4-banger. And both...

are turbo.

OK Here we Go!!!!

I've been out all day driving various cars. I drove the WRX STI, Had too I mean I like Subaru's, I like the look and they do sound like fun. BUT, Not for me, SORRY SORRY I know. Despite the formidable Acceleration and handling, it was still a bit too um... Normal? To Tinny? I mean mostly it was the ride quality and the interior materials that moved me on to the next. BUT THE WRX WAS FUN!!!!

Drove the TT with 225 HP. Again FUN, but too it out on the INterstate and was really let down. The amount of rattles, and racket was kinda surprising and the suspension that was fine on smooth city streets was WAY loud on the highway. NEXT!!! But I was bumming, I was really into getting the TT...

SO, Found a CLK 32 AMG for right about $34k, So I figure hell might as well go drive it, find out if it's what I am looking for. Again, No the right fit. Awesome quiet smooth ride, but a bit wallowy. Reminded me of what I have been driving in the handling and power department, just a bit nicer. So no, not really what I am after and $32 is just a couple G's more than I wanna spend.

OK and because it was there and something I had been thinking about I drove a 2003 BMW 330ci with the sport package. FUGGIN SWEET CAR!!! Wonderful tight feel great turn in and handling, nice engine note and all around a sweet car. I would pick this over the WRX and the TT. It was just a very solid coupe, and was nearly telepathic when it came to the steering...

So Obviously I bought the 330CI BMW RIGHT?

?

Nope...

I bought the New RX8 I've been looking at!!!! The First Car I drove!!!!
laugh.gif
After driving damn near everything on the lot, and doing a lot of thinking it really was the RX that was everything I was looking for.

-True Sports Car, first and foremost. Not a hopped up sedan, not a pocket rocket, and not a Fashion statement.
-Wonderful ergonomics. After TWO more test drives, I really came to appreciate the NEAR perfect layout of this car.
-Amazing handling, still a tad numb through the front when on centerline, but everything comes alive in the corners.
-Ride Quality, solid well damped suspension firm without being harsh, Cadillac compared to the 350Z.
-FUGGIN SCHWEET Engine noise. I cannot explain the sound, but the motor spins to 9k Rpm's and sounds amazing.
-FUGGIN SCHWEET TRANNY noise. Just enough to remind you your in a performance car, Good Noises...
-Shifting, Best transmission feel and performance of all the cars I drove hands down, fun to shift.
-Fastest and most confidence inspiring of all the cars I've driven down the twisty backroads, Inspiring.
-VALUE, for the money I get everything I wanted plus a bunch of other goodies.
-Looks, Reminds me of the Busa Kinda, Really "Unique" and I don't see a whole lot of em.
-Warranty, came with a Mazda warranty out to 100K miles.

SO I know you all care, and have been hanging on the edges of your seats...
laugh.gif
OK I know no one really cares, but I just felt like walking you all through my decision making process. As a lot of you know, The wife and I have been carpooling for about 12 years. We were just able to work it that way in Omaha and Tampa so it was no big deal, so yeah I am pretty damned excited to be getting a car all my own and my very first New Car at that. Still smells good...
laugh.gif

So, without further delay, Here's Lilah's Counterpart... Oh an my ugly Mug!

Cheesy Me Pic...

It's a Fully Loaded Grand Touring Model, Leather, Bose, Moon roof, Big Wheels, On and Fuggin on, Seat warmers, Yadda yadda...

I have the "Rotary Trim" Package and Some "Side Strakes" on order.

I cannot decide whether or not to add a Wing...

And I will be getting the windows tined good and dark soon.

Finally, I'll prolly be adding the MazdaSpeed Exhaust System, Guys at the shop said it sounds even meaner than it does now and it's only like $500. Besides, the one thing these cars REALLY NEED... IS More POWER... I would be happy with just another 40HP...

So Uh, What did you do with your Sunday?

Actually the buying process was remarkably simple. Once I decided I called USAA to see if I could get the loan and as it turns out I was pre-Approved for more than double what I needed. (Allmost had me heading over to BMW)
laugh.gif
laugh.gif

But once I returned from a good long test drive, and announced my intentions I was all done and out of the Dealership in about 1.5 hours.

USAA ROCKS... ALL YOU MILITARY TYPES, SIGN UP, Insure SOMETHING through them, and then take advantage of their Mortgage financing, Credit cards, Auto Loans, Investing assistance... Etc... They are trully a godsend.

I called told them what I wanted to do and literally she replied with OK , Is there anything else I can do for you today?

Just that easy.

laugh.gif

Oh and Raider, I have a document I want to e-mail to you, regarding the RX-8 and I need to know of any good websites bro.

well, hell....that sure beats any sunday I've had.

Fuggin sweet, bro...had a knickering feeling you were gonna pull the trigger on the 8. That one seemed to have the most enthusiastic review. And I think that was the only one that you drove more than once.

Man....to be stuck with your decisions.
laugh.gif

Seriously, though...looks tight and you seem pretty happy with your decision. I'm glad for ya.
beerchug.gif

It's too bad that I ain't over there, though. I heard the V6 altima and the 8 were supposed to be pretty similar acceleration-wise. Sure, you'd hand me my ass in a slalom course, but I think that if we were to have a little fun on a less-monitored area of the I5, it'd be tits.

Woulda been a blast to tear shid up with ya. Looks to me like another trip may be in order.
wink.gif

Actually, the RX-8 will get ran over in a straight line by ALOT of todays Sedans and sport coupes. I mean 0-60 in 6 seconds is hardley a record setter. BUT the way it makes the power and the sounds it makes are unique and really fun... Not to mention out in the twisty stuff this thing floored me. The RX-8 really isn't about straight line performance, it's not about top speed, it's true Sports Car, and is very well balanced. But Yeah, I won't be squaring off against any Vette's anytime soon.
thumbs-up.gif

Stability control, Traction control, and anti lock brakes are all there as well to keep me outta trouble.

And yeah, I am pretty happy thus far. It's a hoot...

sounds like a good purchase, then.

You're happy...and that's a requisite to any big purchase. I sure think it'd be fun, though...tool around with you with the cages...and the bikes. And from the looks of it, Lilah's got a cousin on the way, too, so that'd be doubly fun.

Who knows? You may just see me a little earlier than expected.
wink.gif
Ya know?

I'm just wondering if it's safe to leave the Busa and the RX in the same room together over night. Kinda worried that the Busa will take advantage of the new kid.
laugh.gif

Well it made it to work this morning, and I got the insurance thing done. Wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it might be.
thumbs-up.gif

Pac Bro, one of the coolest things about the RX are the noises it makes... You have to spin up that Engine to get anywhere, and when you do so it really makes some sweet noises.

The rotary engines seem to go and go Rev...hubby's had his eye on the RX-8 since before they came out, just didn't like the gas guzzling factor...
sad.gif

Nice looking guy, err car you've go there!!! I love it!

You're becoming the king of all things that drive here lately...Busas, Harleys, Mazdas...
tounge.gif

CONGRATS!!!! And I'm glad you smiled...

If I still had to commute 24 miles to and from work, there is no way I would have gotten a sports car that gets worse gas milage than a Z06 vette...
smile.gif
But When my commute is 1.4 miles? I can sport the fuel.
thumbs-up.gif

Nah, not the King of anything, just some planets aligned, all is going well, and damn!t I am going to grab on and hold tight until it comes to an end. Not looking a gifthorse in the mouth, and not asking too many questions. Just taking it as it comes. Figure The Other shoe is bound to fall soon enough, I'll prolly loose my shirt and the car. So I better Enjoy.
thumbs-up.gif

Mostly I am having fun, sorry it sounds like so much Hey looky at me Looky at me... But hell I suppose it is... Just not meant that way...

Hmm...looks like someone's gonna get trash duty. And it ain't gonne be the car.
laugh.gif

Rev up the RPM, huh? Nice. I'm sure it sounds killer, man. Sweet new rotary engine must have a nice sound. HA! If I try an get the rev's up on my clunker, it sounds like a constipated vacuum cleaner.

I gotta get me that Nismo Exhaust. At least that way the car can sound almost as sweet as yours.

HE he, Come on out Bro, I'll take ya for a spin and I think You'll fit just fine. I had RSD, His Wife, and My wife all in the RX toniht down to seattle, no worries.
thumbs-up.gif
I was pretty pleased, But RSD was kinda crammed in there.
laugh.gif
I think My driving may have unsettled him a bit. Not sure. Was a great dinner though...

Hey, Where is Raider??? I am only milking this thread so he can see it. I think He'll be pleased.

Wow....sounds like a pretty good fit then. I'm impressed.

And Rubba unsettled by your driving? Hmm....that don't sound right. I thought he was a nuts-to-the-wall driver too.
rock.gif

Raider should see this soon enough...I think. He's almost like a transient...just drifts in an out and when you least expect it: BOOM! He's there.
