OK Here we Go!!!!
I've been out all day driving various cars. I drove the WRX STI, Had too I mean I like Subaru's, I like the look and they do sound like fun. BUT, Not for me, SORRY SORRY I know. Despite the formidable Acceleration and handling, it was still a bit too um... Normal? To Tinny? I mean mostly it was the ride quality and the interior materials that moved me on to the next. BUT THE WRX WAS FUN!!!!
Drove the TT with 225 HP. Again FUN, but too it out on the INterstate and was really let down. The amount of rattles, and racket was kinda surprising and the suspension that was fine on smooth city streets was WAY loud on the highway. NEXT!!! But I was bumming, I was really into getting the TT...
SO, Found a CLK 32 AMG for right about $34k, So I figure hell might as well go drive it, find out if it's what I am looking for. Again, No the right fit. Awesome quiet smooth ride, but a bit wallowy. Reminded me of what I have been driving in the handling and power department, just a bit nicer. So no, not really what I am after and $32 is just a couple G's more than I wanna spend.
OK and because it was there and something I had been thinking about I drove a 2003 BMW 330ci with the sport package. FUGGIN SWEET CAR!!! Wonderful tight feel great turn in and handling, nice engine note and all around a sweet car. I would pick this over the WRX and the TT. It was just a very solid coupe, and was nearly telepathic when it came to the steering...
So Obviously I bought the 330CI BMW RIGHT?
?
Nope...
I bought the New RX8 I've been looking at!!!! The First Car I drove!!!!
After driving damn near everything on the lot, and doing a lot of thinking it really was the RX that was everything I was looking for.
-True Sports Car, first and foremost. Not a hopped up sedan, not a pocket rocket, and not a Fashion statement.
-Wonderful ergonomics. After TWO more test drives, I really came to appreciate the NEAR perfect layout of this car.
-Amazing handling, still a tad numb through the front when on centerline, but everything comes alive in the corners.
-Ride Quality, solid well damped suspension firm without being harsh, Cadillac compared to the 350Z.
-FUGGIN SCHWEET Engine noise. I cannot explain the sound, but the motor spins to 9k Rpm's and sounds amazing.
-FUGGIN SCHWEET TRANNY noise. Just enough to remind you your in a performance car, Good Noises...
-Shifting, Best transmission feel and performance of all the cars I drove hands down, fun to shift.
-Fastest and most confidence inspiring of all the cars I've driven down the twisty backroads, Inspiring.
-VALUE, for the money I get everything I wanted plus a bunch of other goodies.
-Looks, Reminds me of the Busa Kinda, Really "Unique" and I don't see a whole lot of em.
-Warranty, came with a Mazda warranty out to 100K miles.
SO I know you all care, and have been hanging on the edges of your seats...
OK I know no one really cares, but I just felt like walking you all through my decision making process. As a lot of you know, The wife and I have been carpooling for about 12 years. We were just able to work it that way in Omaha and Tampa so it was no big deal, so yeah I am pretty damned excited to be getting a car all my own and my very first New Car at that. Still smells good...
So, without further delay, Here's Lilah's Counterpart... Oh an my ugly Mug!
