Here's a thought.
Sometimes forum members run into a good deal with a retailer who is willing to give others the same deal by mail order - VegasDude with the tires, my own experience with the exended warranty are examples.

Unfortunately when a good deal is posted it quickly gets lost as time goes on. How many times has Vegas been asked for(Best Cycle Parts?) that phone number?

Here is my idea if it technically feasible.
Set up a forum where members can post good deals they came across. Do not let anyone other than the topic originator post to the topic. In other words each good deal topic belongs to and is controlled by the originator (and BigDog).

With this method the Good Deals Forum will be like a classified listing - no bs and commentary, just the good deal itself. If any forum members wants to comment about a posting they can do it on the General Discussion Forum.

Just a thought, a good one at that.

Okay, guys...we have some issues we have to address. Take a look at the front page for this information and take it to heart. We have some things on this site that are out of hand and need to be handled.

BigDog, I understand your concerns, legal and otherwise.

You can see that there is some enthusiasm for using our Membership numbers to obtain discounts.

Do you have any plans to facilitate this? As I mentioned some time ago this could represent some income for you as well as savings for us.

If you're interested, what can we do to help you out? I have experience in arranging centrally-administered volume discounts for companies and groups, athough not on line.

We dont need to use Hayabusa.org to get Group Purchase discounts. Individuals set up arrangements with dealers/providers and they take care of all the order and payment via their normal retail vehicle.

Like Todd pointed out earlier, the GP on f-body.org are managed by the interested parties. Fore example: to become a exhaust dealer the have to sell X number of exhaust, so there is some incentive to give us a better price on the initial order to get their dealer status.

But Individuals work with a company and agree to a number that MUST be orderd and pay'd for, not just spoken for. When one gets set up the post to f-body.org that this GP is open and accepting orders. NOTHING get order/shipped until the predefined number has been ordered.

STEPS to a SUCCESS GP:

1. Probe for possible interest, get an inital estimate of number of SERIOUS participates.

2. Contact some providers for the best possible price and quanatity for us.

3. Inform everyone that orders must be placed within a time window. (some one f-body.org are just OPEN and that is the offering price)

4. VERY ONE ORDERS & PAYS in a TIMELY FASHION!!!

5. Bam-Boom parts arrive.. Job Well Done.

** DISCLAIMER **
This will ONLY work if people are HONEST about what they can afford and not sign up on a list that they CAN NOT afford ro do not intend to pay... COMMON SENSE... lets use some people.

Don't forget that mfg. and distributors have an obligation to remain loyal to their retailers. However these Mfg's will recognise a *Real* Club or Org. What Hayabusa.Org is a web site and not much more, anyone can get a screen name and a password so there really is no club or org.(Hayabusa.Org is just a name, not a Club or Org).

Hayabusa.org is Chase Giles web site, not a club.

While we are talking product here, when are we getting the T-shirts?

Some of the Members have still not paid for their shirts yet :(, and there is talk of group purchases. You need your head examined. Let's get the shirts first-OK! :)

Most GP I have seen go through retailers and not mfg'rs. I think the best arrangements are when a NEW retailer wants to get noticed by a mfg, so they need to have a significant order, thus they are willing to cut the profit margin for the initial order to achieve there preferred or what ever mfg status.

I dont really care who's name it under. And personally I dont think the retailer does either... if someone is working out a deal to purchase 25,50,100 of what ever they are gonna be interested, I thinkg :)

There is gonna be dead beats in every group!! And that is why most GP are run on a pre-order/pre-pay scheme.

Speed, for instance I am not sure it is worth the effort. For the most part the dealer where you purchased the bike often extends a 10% discount on aftermarket purchases. On an $75 shift kit or windscreen you are talking $7.50, who could be bothered to collect all the money and still have to wait for others to respond before you can order the desired part. Like anyone here is going to send money to a email for a $4000 turbo kit.

Let's get these guys to pay Chase for the $12 tshirt first.

It is a good idea but the reality of it stinks :)

heheheh I wish.. NO the money would go straight to to business offering the discount.. hahaha Theres no way I would ever send that much money to a unknown entity!!! I think 50 bucks is about my limit ... ie the shirts.

After the response I got from the shift kit I doubt its gonna fly 3+1maybe. No way I would just order it myself and skip waiting the wait.

Its a good thought in theory.. practical .. thats up to the market & us.
