I do it all the time. Practice with someone to catch it. It just takes a touch. Using the grab rail helps too.Understanding there's a trick to getting the back end up on a rear stand by one's self, I got mine home to discover it seems just a little too precarious for me.
Is there in fact a trick, or simply not recommended?
TIA

I'm right-handed also and do mine this way except use opposite hands.I am righthanded, I grab the grab bar with my right hand, standing with my right side towards the rear of the bike facing to the left side, position the stand with my left hand, and then once the stand is on the spools, push down with the left hand and steady hold/lift with the right, pops right up nicely. I did have my wife help me make sure I didnt muck it up the first couple times. Front stands are trick too!
Yep, me too. Also if you have the hump on, just pop it off and grab the crossbar inside the tailsection.I'm right-handed also and do mine this way except use opposite hands.

George:I've never really given it a second thought it's so easy. I don't even bother removing the hump let alone installing the grab bar.
I reach in the cut out where the frame rail is and level the bike while sliding the stand under the spools with my right hand. Once the spools are engaged and a little bit of downward pressure is applied to the stand I can let the bike go and it's not going anywhere. Push down on the stand and the bike goes right up.
I'm 155 lbs and it's no problem with the Checkered Flag stands that I use.

You saying that you're holding 500lbs at the rear of the bike with your left hand and maneuvering the stand with your right hand? Damn! How about shooting some video of that for us to see... really, I ain't kidding either.

I kinda do the same thing...I've never really given it a second thought it's so easy. I don't even bother removing the hump let alone installing the grab bar.
