Reasons NOT to buy a Turbo for my Busa?

do you really need a turbo to putt around on the freeway, i guess if i was drag racing it or something like that i might consider one, but just for everyday riding and such, i think 5000 could by me something else..

Good point. It also leads to another thread that I started recently about worrying about losing my licence through the excessive speeds that my Busa is always asking me to enjoy. Once I add a turbo my beastie might be totally unreasonable and never want to cruise along at the posted speed limit!

exactly....BOOOOST IT:thumbsup: When are we gonna do your bike? We need to get up and talk about this, i can save you some $...and i've got a great place for us to take it for tuning

as soon as i get rid if the chevelle......or the motor lol. anyone want to buy a bulletproof 750HP 383?:laugh:

A few months ago I was "looking" as you are now...and now I have a stage 1. If you thought it was fast before...after you get the turbo you'll think twice before grabbing the throttle.

I would love to have one.Only if I had another busa to do it to. I would like to have one turbo and one not. But if I was going to spend 5 large I would buy another dirtbike. Or finish my car and buy 200 rear tire's for it.

If / when you quit looking and buy a kit...do yourself a favor and run your fuel tank low because you need to get in the tank + oil / lube the o-rings on the fuel rail while reassembling the new parts....the rings tear easily when they are dry.

Have fun.

Do you have a link with pics of your bike after the install... did you keep it stealth???

It didn't happen if there are no pics:whistle: .............. jk:laugh:

:please: pics I have a dreams of turbo, an that video of smithbusa didn't help

The only reason to not get it is, you have to be able to handle the hassle of setting it up as others have mentioned. Also, it is $5000 down the crapper. If you can afford to throw away a lot of money, then go for it. If your not able to easily toss 5 grand out the window, then don't do it. That is pretty much the whole issue. Good Luck on your decision!

Now that is what I was looking for! Force me to consider alternatives or to have doubts....very nicely done. Well, I already have over 30 years of riding experience and I have already been to racing school and track days but you are right....I could buy a track bike and trailer and do the track day thing as we have a beautiful circuit within an hour of our house.....hmmmmm......but that turbo kit still looks pretty sweet....and the 200 mph club is still on my list of things to do (and short of the lottery win it won't be coming in a car).....okay the Visa card is going back in the wallet for now.....

Well I usually dont offer this to people I dont know well but....buy the kit. Ship it to my house. I'll put it on my bike for ya to test it out and let you know in a year if its worth it or not:beerchug:

Your welcome! :p

If you have the $$ why not? Life is not always about rational decisions or playing it safe. Why shouldn't you treat yourself to a big luxury? If your paying the bills and your family is taken care of go get the turbo and enjoy life.

Someone may have said this already but your engine will last longer without it.

:poke:

I have been running my "Stealth" O05 turo since Sept 05. It is a Hahn Kit running out through a full system Micoron and a K&N "mushroom" air filter hidden under the faring. I have added a secondary fuel rail .. I love this bike it is my primary commuter.

All the reasons to buy are right on the money! Now the Debbie Downer side of things...

1) Hard if not impossible to insure
2) VERY desirable by thieves (But, what Busa ain't)
3) Can get real expensive if the install shop ain't close by when you have questions/concerns

Now get out there and buy it :poke: But, at least we warned you :beerchug:

Not hard at all to insure, My AARP even gets me a discount!
I am 250 miles from where the install was done found 3 shops locally that will tune it.
Likely hood of theft is the same as any other Busa in your area. Go buy the turbo ,, spank a couple of guys riding what they believe are hot sport bikes.. then come telll us the reasons yuo are sorry you did it. I will tell you all the reaqsons I regret turbo-ing my bike..................... the moment I find one.
