Rectifier recall notice came today

2008 The fast gold color.
Had mine installed today, Old one putting 14.1 volts
New one at 15.5 volts. Wow,,,,
Took about 15 minutes for the job,
Thats a lot of juice for a 12 volt battery...

I got my rectifier changed out today. I asked if they would let me do and they said no. I hate letting a dealership work on my bike. They also stamped a dot at the end of the vin # on the neck of the bike. They said that show's the recall was done on my bike.

Got my notice today in the mail. Called the local shop and said they only have on left. I work tomorrow, but looking at getting off work to get this done. I just got finished putting it back in the stock location. I had mine relocated.

I just got my notice today. I wonder if they will have a problem with mine cuz I relocated
the rectifier into to the tail section on the right side.

My dealership did the same thing

Today is 3/11/11 and I just received the rectifier recall paper. It says my '08 Busa is one of the bikes. It further says "Operating your motorcycle without having the recall service performed may increase the risk of a crash. DO NOT OPERATE YOUR AFFECTED MOTORCYCLE. To minimize the risk of a crash, do not ride, or allow anyone else to ride your motorcycle until this recall service has been completed". The paper says it takes 1hr to complete. I hope this helps.

I beleive since it's a warranty/recall item Suzuki is gonna want the old ones back .
Usually the way it works. I read above post where he got to keep old one but I think that won't be the norm.

That's how it's suppose to work. The dealer can get into a lot of trouble if they let a customer keep the re-called part

I agree with both of you on how its suppose to work but i nicely asked the mechanic if i could keep it since i wasn't having any issues with mine and he handed it to me and says "since you're the 1st bike that i've done the recall on you can keep it". i tucked the old rectifier inside my riding jacket and rode off into the sunset.

I haven't receive the letter though call my closest dealership and they said that bring the bike and they will check if the bike needs the rectifier being replaced based on Suzuki "new" instructions of checking 1st the bikes and confirm that the rectifier needs the replacement,is this right???? I'm thinking of calling another dealer, any advise guys???

Was able to get mine done today! Last one they had for an 08-up busa. It is different looking then stock. Now I got to put it back in the tail. I highly recommend putting it back to stock before you take it in. Whole job took 30 minutes from write up to here is your bike back. I did check the charging system. 14.2volts at idle. 5k rpm test as per manual 14.8 to 15.0 volts. All looks good!

There's a decent chance the dealer may charge you extra if the recall takes longer than Suzuki is paying for. Anyone with a relocated rectifier may want to take that in mind when you go to pick up your bike and it actually costs you money because they had to put more time into than given by Suzuki

But how long did it take for you to put it back in the stock position ?

Just got my recall notice in the mail. Mine was replaced less than a year after I bought the bike (2008). Does anyone know if they will want to replace the replacement? Is it still a possible faulty part?
