Retirement Location Recommendations?

Arizona is great man. I moved here from kansas and I could never think about moving anywhere else. Hunting, fishing, hiking, amazing roads to ride, beautiful country, skiing its the whole package. Plus vegas is within range, california, mexico, I mean it has it all

Not to mention, a world-class Drop Zone in Eloy!!! BOOOYAH!

I wouldn't overlook Albuquerque (central NM) if I were you. Albuquerque has city living with a country feel. Several small, really small towns are within 45 minutes of downtown if you want true country living.

I can drive 10 minutes to the Tram in shorts and be skiing 30 minutes later or I can drive to one of seven in the state ski areas in less than 3 hours, two of them are world class. Durango Colorado is about 3 1/5 away.

Mexico is 3 hours and Vegas is about 9 hours away but we have casinos on the west, north and south edges of the city and a bunch more within a few hours of town of that is your thing. We have college sports (decent except for football), Arena football and AAA baseball. Lots of concerts, most of the big country and rock tours make it here.

In the city we have Albuquerque Dragway (1/4 mile dragstrip) and Sandia Speedway (dirt and asphalt). Mondays are open practice for motorcycles at the speedway. Both are open 9 months a year minimum. There are a few motocross track on the outskirts and we have tons of place to go 4wheeling in the city limits. Top speed staright-aways and mountian twisties are 30 minutes away.

Like fly fishing? Hundreds and lakes and streams within the state. Hiking, camping, boating, kayaking, white water rafting, hunting, fishing, we have it all.

One of the things that impresses people looking to re-locate is the price of housing in the city limits. You can go crazy and get the mlti-million dollar homes but there are some decents neighbor hoods where newer houses are as cheap as $50 a square ft.

If you are a fast paced city slicker you might find things are slow here. If you are a outdoors type, Albuquerque (central NM) is the place for you.

Congrats to your wife Red. Congrats to both of you. Being single makes it a little scarier to take the step. I thought semi’s suggestion in this thread was great and that’s what I’m leaning towards.
