shutting off

OK, I have a completely stock 04, just added a power commander III USB. Now the bike keeps stalling on me. I have read through the other topics on this, and from what I gathered my problem is the idle speed. It is idling just under 1k.

Here comes the silly question. How do I raise the idle speed? Question 2, is it better to adjust the richness on the PC or am I mixing apples with oranges?

Other than the little problem of it cutting out all the time, it has been a great ride as I have recently been a strictly cruiser (honda shadow/valkyrie) rider up until now.

To adjust the idle you will need to raise the fuel tank and on the throttle side there will be a screw with a spring on it. That will be the adjuster. You will probably want to keep your idle around 1200 RPM. Nice looking bike.

It is a nice bike! Pipefighter is right about how to adjust the idle speed. Depending on the screw you may have to adjust it frequently because it may have a tendency to slip.

Is it just me?  Or does it seem odd to be adding a PC without even knowing where the Idle adjustment is?

Get thee to the owners manual...  Then if your going to tinker with the fugging thing get a Service manual...

It's cool to come here and ask questions, I am just saying that your going to have much better resultsif you learn more about your bike first, then tinker with it...

Oh and the Blue and Black looks sweat!

If the bike is stock why the PC? The problem is idle speed is too low. Suzuki recommends 1050-1150RPM read the owners manual it will anwser all of your questions regarding normal service and operation of a stock bike. Also a little Locktite on the idle adjustment screw will help.

Might part of the problem be the mapping and elevation that Modog is at? There is a FREE service manual (Genuine Suzuki) available somewhere on this board too, might want to find it (80mb download, so get a cup of coffee if your on dialup).

Here is the link to the service manual that you were talking about.

Thanks to everybody for the info.  Just a bit more on my bike.  I am in Japan (about 3 hours from Tokyo).  I bought it here (the Canadian version so I can bring it back).  I have gone through owners manual, but I guess there were some parts I did not absorb.  I intend to do the Yosh drop in cams, and put some titanium pipes on.  Oh yeah and peel the stickers off of it.
I have had it about 2 months now and about 3k.  Wish I didn't have to work, cause it gets in the way riding.

On a side note - 2004s had different color schemes this year.  It was a tough choice between the blue and black and purple and black.  No silver and gray this year.  Oh well, I am more than happy with what I got.
