I don't believe any thinking person would argue that racism doesn't exist. It clearly does and it's a horrible thing. The arguement would be which is the greater of two evils...
In our warped society racism has become politically correct and is an incredibly powerful force, politically and monetarily. Not for the person(s) to whom the finger of accusation is pointed, but rather, for the person(s) from whom the accusation of racism comes. It has become not only an excuse for socially negative behaviors of all sorts, but an excuse for a lack of socially positive behaviors as well. It has become an excuse for those devoid of personal responsibility. It has become an excuse for decrying any unwanted outcome. It has led to the guilty walking free and the innocent being condemned. It feeds a self pity that skews perception. And it's self-perpetuating.
No question that racism is a blotch on the heart of a man, but it's become a tool as well.
So which is worse, the former or the latter...
It is a good tool to use on someone you want to discredit, think about it, just the accusation thats your a racists. Can really eliminate compatition, someone in your way, now you can get that promotion, or revealing they are now your concidered a politically correct person for revealing it, so it destroys someone big deal go you that promotion, or put you in the spot light ect... It is a very very good weapon to use today in this day in age. And to think people do this and all. sad but another little politically correct thing to do, what a bunch of warped people, but then when will it stop. also how do you know whats trueth or fact or whats being said to say it to discredit someone for a gain? Cannot tell anymore. Things black people can say but a white person even breaths it thier labeled now.
I guess you didn't read the article entirely before posting your reply. The reporter wrote that there are documented actions BY the city and state government that were designed to specifically "address" the Black Bike Festival by doubling police presence, blocking off a main street to one way, local businesses closing in the area of the BBF, etc... Hell, even the local waitress confirmed the racist mentality in the area. HOW MUCH MORE BLANTANCY do you need??
If in this case, you were right, that Jessie, Al or whoever was falsely "crying wolf", how do you explain the actions taken by the city and state government, the actions of the local businesses, the waitress' statement???
Fakk2, you need to get your head out of the sand. It may hurt your pride to admit it, but it's reality: In this day and age, there are still whites that are very prejudice against non-whites. And yes, there are plenty of non-whites that exhibit racism as well. But if you compare it to the longer history of racist dominancy by the whites, you can almost say that the racist sentiment practiced by non-whites against whites are almost a reactionary effect, therefore somewhat as a defensive strategy if you will. Hence, you may have the formation of self-segregated associations and events.
But the funny thing is, I've been to plenty of these race "specific" events while I'm not of that ethnicity. And each and every single time, I felt obviously welcome at best, but NOT discriminated like I shouldn't be there AT WORST. But I'll tell you this, in the non-race label specific events that are predominately white (Like some last bikeshow that was mainly Harley and choppers at Long Beach CA), I can feel eyes on my back like I shouldn't be there, like the only reason I should be there is to deliver fast Chinese food since I'm obviously Asian.
Fakk2, I'm not accusing you of being a racist, but I AM accusing you of being in denial! Next, you'll going to say that the Jewish Halocaoust didn't really happen in WWII!! That it was all a proproganda spun up by the bleeding heart liberals, etc...
I maybe wrong, but I do think you ARE white. Nothing wrong with that. But you should try to really experience what it is like on this side of the fence before you accuse people of victimizing themselves. And I don't mean your last brief trip to your local black neighborhood for 30 minutes either. Try Iraq or Iran or any one of those middle east countries there for a few years. Those guys are the kings of racist, they hate everyone that are none Muslim, and even other Muslims from a neighboring country. But they would hate you as a white American even more.
