(04gtstang @ Jul. 03 2007,12:11) We used regular one that normally require drilling of the fairing, but instead drilled out the frame where the fairing bolt goes and tapped it, to accept the larger bolt. No fairing trimming required

i wouldnt trust this much as the area the slider is mounted to this way is not a strong as it would be if you used the engine mount with standard sliders. If your going to cut your plastics, do it right and get the ones that mount to your engine mount bolt... just my .02...

Well with my way you dont cut anything, just removed the little rubber bushing thats in that fairing hole....I just couldnt bring myself to cut a hole in the fairing

.

Tapping the frame wasnt a big deal though, and it was very easy since it is aluminum. And the whole base of the slider sandwiches the paper thin fairing to the frame...it wont budge at all. So it serves two purposes.

A. it acts JUST like the factory fairing bolt and keeps the fairing bolted down to the frame

B. Since the base of the slider is rather large, it creates a nice contact point to the pretty THICK frame. Im not going to go test it out or anything....but if I didnt think it would take a fall W/O busting a hole in the frame I wouldnt have done it. Our frames our pretty tough.

I just bought the diamond powersports lighted translucent frame sliders.... I installed them alright but do not know how to install the lighting system. Does anyone have any clues on how to do this?
