So I want a Hayabusa, I think......

Since you are familiar with the controls on a motorcycle and seem to have a level of maturity, the busa would be a good choice as long as you respect it.  It's comfortable for a sportbike and very docile when you want it to be.  You will probably be okay as long as you take your time to get to know it and respect its power.  If you are considering a used bike first, my suggestion would be the Suzuki TL1000R (last year made-2003).  Though it is a race replica bike, it was very comfortable for me.  It has the v-twin with lots of usable torque for the street.  And welcome to the board.

If you go through the polls section there is a poll asking about the height and weight of busa owners. In which ther results state that atleast 45% of the busa owners have a very large frame (Height and weight). So the busa is perfectly matched to people who are a little BIG. Your brother in law is right in suggesting the busa for you.

Also when we state that the busa is not a good first bike, we mean to say that BUSA is not a good bike to learn how to ride.. whereas you on the other hand have driven other bikes before, so in this regard it will not be your first bike.

All in all the busa is just perfect for you.

also whats important to note is that most of the busa owners are aged over 30. so your maturity would help in handling the immense power that the busa contains

I have had my Busa for a week now and just came up on 500 miles tonight (if didnt work 6 days a week it would be more like 1500 miles

the Busa is in my opinon the finest motorcycle i have ever ridden it is awsome ! I find i love solo ridding far away from people and cars and things it will run from 80 mph to 165 mph in just seconds damndest thing i ever felt !!! yet in traffic she is just as safe feeling as a bike can be . it is all about throttle control with this as i had to see for myself no one could tell me i just had to see on my own . if you have a level of maturaty about you and dont over extend yourself (like others said it can get beastly real fast ) then you should get one and be careful and you like the rest of us will be in awe at the end of each ride after have this bike for one week i cant imagine owning anything else >> HAYABUSA it is.

well first welcome to the board. and one thing to remember is  the busa is only as fast as you twist that throttle, and i'd say jinkster got it just right, it is a gentle giant, it is very easy to ride and is good for larger riders, and if some one is mature enough to know their own limits it could be a very good first bike but that depends on you. and yes a 600 sport bike will kill you just as quick as a busa can. if you ride beyond your riding abbility your going to get hurt and it doesnt matter if its a 600 or a 1300 thats the weapon of choice, you might sit on a honda cbr1100xx black bird also its a great bike and its a little more spread out for someone of your size , more leg room and a bit further reach to the bars and their a bit higher.  im only 6' and to me i needed more leg room, you can do a search on the buell foot peg mod , only about 30 bucks and it gives you another 1 1/2" of leg room, to me it made all the  differance in the world, and also heli bars help out alot another 169.00 its a great bike if you do get one, first respect what it can do, and know what you can do and youll be fine. but if you forget either of these for even  just a second its going to hurt.

Dam what a bunch of fat asses (Just kidding).

Actually I'm a little guy but I can weigh in on this topic. There's one human on the planet I would let drive my ride and he's my nephew. The only reason is because I drive his ride anytime I want. Having said that, he drove my new busa once. After we finished cleaning the piss off the seat and he came down off his speed high he said he was glad he had the chance to ride one before buying it. He said he was too high over the wind sheild and was a little cramped up w/ his legs and all.

He's always ridden big cruizers though so (as you all know) sportys are way different.

He's a big dude as well. About 6-1 or 6-2. I don't know what he weighs but one thy is bigger than both mine.

Anyway, good luck. Get a busa. Can hurt (unless you crash)!
