Socal bash?

O

outtahand

I haven't been around here long enough to really know the history of things, so pardon me if I make some incorrect assumptions...

I'm wondering, why not a Socal Busa Bash? Has there ever been one?

If not, why not try to have one? There are a few good roads here...
Maybe there would be enough interest to organize one?

It would be cool to have one, but the West Coast crowd rides year round and it's hard to get everybody to commit to a event with so many people, places, and things to do out here.

So it might be small. How have previous attempts to plan one been?
Is there any interest now?

There was a great 3-day event (modestly attended; decreasing numbers from Friday to Sunday), earlier this year.

We had a dozen people on Friday; half that on Saturday, and (slightly more than) half that on Sunday).

We started in SD doing Palomar and spanking the San Jacinto's, Friday, spent the night in Banning, Saturday did the San Bernardino's, etc., spent the night in Long Beach, then the Santa Monica's on Sunday). It was fun. We beat ourselves silly with all the miles. The turnout, while stellar in composition, was tragic in number.

Rich (BA Busa) was the last to return home (Santa Clara). Lamb and I rode back from Long Beach Sunday night just as the sun was setting. The event came off (nearly) without a hitch. There were no crashes and only one driving award issued (that's all I'll say on THAT!).

Lisa...it's a great read with some awesome pix. Do a search (I think it was in February, but in my advancing age, I can't be certain as my memory is fading ).

Check it out...if you have problems finding the linx, let me know and I'll dig 'em up for you.

Scar

ps: There's even a video (my first-ever posted). Go to www.veoh.com, search for 'allaboutscar', then look for Busa Stampede. It's nearly 30 minutes of great stuff. Or, search this site for "Index to Scar's Videos" and check it out from there.

Dad,

Did you forget to take your meds today ???

It was back in May...

I swear, this "dad" business with the two of you is a bit ghey for me...

Ok, how about another one a little further north... perhaps not as challenging as Palomar :poke:
Like GMR...
JUST KIDDING!
But seriously... I'm between projects, and I have time and energy to burn and I love to plan trips

Whatever, Grandpa. February, May, April, July. Blah, blah, blah, blah... They all kind of blend together when you're doing 'em at 160+ mph.

OK, so, Lisa...look around the May time-frame, when Lazarus' grandfather (aka BA Busa) says it was.

BA: In future, please don't bog me down in the quagmire of these petty details. Maybe it's just that your saddle-sores have gone to your head.

I have the name of Rich's psycho-therapist, if you need it. He came highly recommended, but frankly, doesn't seem to be helping too much.

And what are you doing about the problem? I saw you do it on one of your bd threads :poke:

WOW

I guess you need some new glasses too...I posted a link to the May Socal ride :poke:

Two words:

Busa Stampede... (watching this evolve with great interest)

This is a nice geographic spread...
Angeles Crest
Palomar
Santa Monica Mtns
Idyllwild
Palm Desert(7 levels)
Big Bear
Rim of the World
Julian
Borreigo Springs---maybe
Ojai---maybe
Gorman---maybe

Well, I guess that's what's to be expected, so as not to be disappointed.
Any reason not to go for it again?

I make more of the Socal rides than most of the riders that actually live IN Socal :banghead:

I'm tired of planning and promoting them, but I will attend them anyway

Hey you. Your help is needed over here. Split your attentions like you do when you butter yourself.
yea right, These guys put the hurt on our efforts in "flyover" country... heck they pre run, meet with casinos/hotels, caterers even the dancing girls are pre-checked for quality... all we do is show up with a few burgers and a grill..... (life is a lot more simple outside CA...)

So... you aren't up for the excitement?
