Spinners on the Busa

I am trying to get a consensus about what everyone thinks about putting spinners on a Busa. I was talking to one guy and he said they are not good for performance just for show. I wonder how so? All input is welcome. Ride safe all!

Spinners are for show-bikes only!!! I could get into the details of un-sprung weight and inertia, but I really have no idea of what I'm talking about. However, spinners aren't for "real" motorcycles.

All input is welcome.
I've done the whole "mod madness" thing on several past bikes and I'm so done with that. As a consequence, over the top stuff like spinners, chrome, neon, etc. aren't my cup of tea. Less is more IMHO.

I shake my head at the money I've spent on mods over the years- and for what? The bikes were substantially unchanged in terms of their road going performance. The only real difference is my wallet was lighter by a few grand per bike.

I now invest my money in good gear, riding schools, and moto-destinations for the painfully small number of times a year I can get out and tour on my bike.

Have you ever done a track school? What you'll learn is indescribable. Ever ridden PCH, Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, the Triple Nickle, or the Black Hills for instance? Religious, I'm telling ya.

So my advice to you is, instead of vain attempts to make your Hayabusa a "complete" bike, try to make yourself a more complete rider. Sign up for a track school. Go on a motorcycle vacation. Ride more, mod less.

What the.......spinners??? I wonder how long they would spin for after a 180 mph blast. Bet they could take a finger off like a table saw....

I'll give ya what I know and you can take it from there.

On tailwheel airplanes the propellers spin clockwise viewed from the cockpit(US planes).  The gyroscopic precession force from the spinning prop causes a right turning force on the airplane as the tail lifts off the ground.  Technically, as the propeller's plane rotates forward(the airplane roataing as the tail lifts off the ground while the main gear are still on the ground), that rotating force is rotated 90 degrees by gyroscopic precession(the spinning prop), and the force is redirected causing the airplane to turn right.

Now, how to take this and apply it to a motorcycle.........  I am not a rocket scientist, so I don't know.  But bottom line, spinners will cause a force somewhere most probably in a corner, accelerating, or braking.  If this is for a show bike, who cares.  But if you take the bike to limit of its capabilities, it'll be bad!!

Besides what CB said, I don't even like them on cars/trucks. A motorcycle with spinners is just way too much. I think they could present a distraction to drivers that already have bad driving habits.

spend the extra 4 or 5 grand on a turbo if ya gonna spend it on the bike

Spinners= ClownShoes.... Simple as that.... Buy some lightweight Forged alloys that will actually improve handling and performance... Schweet... Then have them powdercoated to match or contrast your ride...

I understand what you all are saying just wanted to know what everyone thought. I have seen a mpeg online with a Busa on spinners. Looks nice, but didn't know how it would affect performance. We all do things to make our bikes look better, spinners are just one of those things. Opinions vary. I am from down south and people from down that way like to shine along with performing. Ya dig
